Shot a round of Trap with a new member Sunday. He had a Longthorne shotgun he purchased in England.
It was a beautiful gun! Lots of Laser engraving, hand checkering, barrel is machined from a solid billet! There was no buttpad, the end of the Wood was embossed! It was a combo with 28” and 30” barrels.
The owner went to England twice to pick out wood and get the gun fitted. I asked to shoot it and was very impressed with the balance and low recoil! Turns out I could order a gun and tell them to make it the same as the one I shot, perfect fit and I crushed the 2 targets I shot at!
Don’t know what it cost but looked up the maker,... saw They have off the shelf O/U starting at 13,000 pounds!!!

That's a beauty alright. Double barrels can definitely be considered an artform. I remember reading a story about a NYC gun dealer who had a rich art collector drop in to buy a shotgun to protect his treasures; he left with something like a Purdy that was valued at six figures, and the dealer figured he was a nut. Then the man came back a month later saying he'd just had a special cabinet installed to display the gun and now he wanted a cheap pump action to actually do the protection job. 'I knew I was looking at high art,' he said. 'I had to have it before someone else realised its true value!'

Yowza ! I wouldn't shoot any better but I'd sure enjoy just looking at it. Very nice shotgun.

Unfortunately the engraving part is programmed which makes it no less beautiful of course. Beginning of the end of the engraving trade was etching machines. Very specialized isolated trade now. The overall craftsmanship is undeniable.

Amazing programming. LOL

Nice looking gun. Anyone know what the off centred plug in the butt with the screw running through is for?

Weight adjustment by someone who missed the memo on craftsmanship?

For a landed in Canada price in the $50,000 to $70,000 range, I'd have a sh1t-fit if my gun arrived with that. Or if some idiot "gunsmith" did it once the gun was here.

I was thinking it could be a weight. Not sure why it was done off centred like that. Maybe to help balance or keep the added weight closer to the cheek? Either way, it bothers me

Through bolt for the stock attachment ,drilled before the stock is shaped dead center at first - as cast is added to the stock it ends up close to one edge or the other....its a helluva thing to drill a bent hole in a piece of wood, harder still to get the friggen 10 in bolt through it

I can understand the through bolt for the buttstock attachment. I am mystified why the through bolt is not concealed under a wooden plug, as is normal practice.

The only obvious reason is a readily removable buttstock - facilitating different length of pull stocks.

Well it is indeed butt ugly. Not that I would turn down the gun as a gift or anything.

Good news- the £13K price tag includes 20% VAT (sales tax), which gets deducted for export orders- bargain!

The gun listed for £13K is a very plain gun.....no engraving to speak of and off the shelve.....no "bespokeness". The gun in this thread will be well over £20K
