Anyone got this action yet?
I am interested in trying a custom action once more.
Have 2 savage 308s i just love, but want to try a Manners stock for next build and that is R700 footprint territory.
Seems like the origin has the R700 foot with the Savage barrel, best of both worlds for me.
Without a 3rd bolt lug pointing down and creating a bunch of problems...

Just want to make sure from firsthand experience that origin feeds AICS without tweaking mags.
I do not take manufacturers specs for cash these days, so first hand experiences are welcomed.

Is your TL3 a SA feeding from AICS?
 
I've got a TL3 as well and Im running 6.5 Creedmoor without an issue from MDT 10 round no binder plater magazines without a single hiccup.

How is feeding,
As in does the bullet tip touch the feedramp or does it go directly from mag to chamber without touching anything?
 
Mine is in 223 rem and feeds out of steel accu-mags very nicely. If I remember correctly the rounds do not touch anything on the way into the chamber. Haven’t tried any other magazines. Works supreme no mods to magazines
 
I n mine You can literally just psuh the bolt forward and back and forth and the rounds go in the chute and come flying out one after the other without touching

I played with a defiance action and it felt sticky. Compared to mine. If this is a hunting or do everything build go for the bighorn hands down! Or an Inpact precision
 
I am 90% convinced.
Still waiting on an origin owner to chime in so i can get exact details.
Don't want to do with any AW specs if possible, got to be 100% AICS and arranged in a way that bullets go in without touching the feedramp, or very so slightly, without mag tuning.
 
We have several Origin on hand and I would say that they are excellent value for the money. An action that takes Savage barrels that is worth considering is the ARC Nucleus

Hi Tom, on your website the Bighorn Origin is only offered as a barrelled action.
Since I want to use an IBI barrel with specific specs, do you also sell these actions on their own?

Was looking at the ARC Nucleus as well on your site, after a bad experience with a 3 lug bolt I am still very cold to the idea of ''taking a chance'' with it.
Because once it's here, if I don't like it i'm likely stuck with it.

We can get the Origin as just an action as well, we just do not currently have stock.

I'm not sure I would compare the bad experience of that action to the Nucleus, I've used them both and that would be an unfair comparison to draw. Send me a PM if you're interested in discussing that direct comparison further
 
Will send a PM early next week, i am swamped with end of month invoicing and lightly use CGN to give my head a rest from time to time.

What is the retail price difference between origin and nucleus?
I am aware i am asking for public retail price, maybe once we chat more seriously on this we could bundle up with a manners stock.

No problem at all let's chat next week and we can work on package prices. The retail on the Nucleus is $1600, where as we haven't listed a specific retail on the Origin alone (as the ones we have are barreled actions) but it would be slightly cheaper than the Nucleus
 
In the meantime, if anyone here on CGN is using a Nucleus or Origin action please post up.
I am giving custom actions a try, and making sure i get everything squared out.
All while keeping it Savage prefit to keep gunsmiths at bay if i can.
 
I have a Bighorn Origin in 6.5CM. Feeds no problem out of the MDT 12 round mags. Taking it out for the first time next week (just arrived recently). Feel free to DM me any questions.
 
Bighorns feed fine from aics mags, had a few and they all worked fine, built more than a few and again no issues. I do how ever find that no matter the brand of aics style mags they all need a little tweaking to smooth them out. Now I just do it before I use them.
 
Plenty of people having excellent results with the Bighorn Origin.

Just do it - once you get into a real custom action (like the Bighorn), you are never going to want to touch your Savages again.
