PAL Wait Time

I talked to someone at the CFO who stated the printing office has been working overtime and hope to catch up by August. We shall see I’m waiting for mine.

Called yesterday and was yold that the "printer issue" is now resolved and that they are printing non stop to catch up. My license still has not been printed and its been a month!

80 days from the time I applied to when i got the notification that its been issued. now to wait a month to get the card.

IF you are an Alberta resident, and have had ANY encounter with the law, be prepared to wait 90+ days for approval.
and even when they tell you that its going to be forever like they did me, keep calling.

Hope this gives some of you hope.

Unfortunately it doesnt give me any. Called again and told it would be another 3 months at least. That my application is fairly new (Feb. 21 , 2019) and that my hunting trips dont matter and the number of times you call dont matter. They will get to it when ever that can literally take over a year. . If you get one license in AB may as well get both . That way you can just own what you want

Spoke with the Ontario CFO this afternoon and she said they are printing the licences issued from the beginning of June. So i'm expecting mine to be printed by the beginning of August.

My licence was issued the last week of June, so i'll give them a week or so to 'catch up'..

That sounds about right because when i called they said mine sould be printed in 1 week and mine was approved mid june. So heres hoping its true

I think you will be soon, they tell you the worst possible scenario, that may or may not apply to your specific situation. Thats what I gathered from the whole process.

My PAL expired in April 2019, so I sent my renewal in mid-Oct.
21 Oct 18 renewal processed
12 Jul 19 Approved
No card yet.

Waited 264 days in BC.

I did check a box though.

Hey guys,

It’s been helpful and encouraging to read all your posts while playing this waiting game. It sounds like things have really sped up now (for BC at least) probably due to the gigantic increase in applications. Hope things continue to be expedited in future for folks on here.

For what it’s worth- here’s my timeline:

Took the courses June 6/7 2019
PAL/RPAL Mailed June 17
Received by RCMP June 21
RCMP Charged $80- July 10
(July 19th: 28 Day waiting period finished)
Application processed and licensed issued July 23rd (today!)

Now just to get the physical card! Hopefully that will be in weeks and not months! Either way time for some online shopping on the weekend! Woohoo!

Hey Guys,

I stumbled across this thread and I found it very helpful.
Its nice to hear everyone's experience and timeline with the PAL wait times

Here is my timeline so far:

June 1st & 2nd 2019
-Took FSESCO PAL/RPAL Course

June 28th
-Received Stamped FSESCO course PAL/RPAL paperwork
-Mailed RCMP 5592 form with signatures, stamped paper work, and signed picture

July 19th
-Received a credit card charge of $80
-Checked the RCMP License Application Status (Application received on July 3rd)
-Application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Now I just have to wait to hear if it has been approved and wait some more...

Cheers

Here's my experience. I was expecting it take much longer, actually; pleasantly surprised. Although I had no boxes checked. Still, I was prepared for a horribly long wait, after reading some of the experiences of others.

I'm in Alberta.

May 26: PAL Course (no RPAL yet, will probably go for it next year).
June 10: Sent in paperwork (took me over a week to get my references to remember to sign it, jeesh.)
June 14: Received by RCMP.
July 3: Card charged.
July 4: Shows up on License Application Status site as "In progress" etc.
July 18: Shows as "been issued".

Just waiting for card now. Assuming this will still take a while. Can I call immediately to get my number to order online, or am I supposed to wait the 2 weeks first in case it shows up in that time (doubtful)?

Getting sick of pre-shopping! lol.

Nice!! Thanks Zulopol :)
Now the question is... what item from the list to buy? I can't be the only one who has pre-shopped and made a list of 4-5 guns to get before even receiving PAL! Haha. :)

I received my RPAL CARD 1 month ago
Already bought :
Glock 17 (9mm)
Colt Canada SA15.7 (5.56 NATO)
CSA VZ-58 (7.62x39)

Hey everyone!
Newly registered here, I’ve been following this thread since April. Here’s where I’m at:

RPAL (Quebec) - First time applier, I’m 18 and completely clean

March 10th: Forms mailed
March 14th: Mail received at RCMP
April 5th: Credit card charged and application shows up online “Initial processing completed”
April 8th: RCMP mails me back original proof of CRFSC that I sent them accompanied by a letter stating that they’re working on my file and that I should hear from them soon. The letter was dated April 5th.
A few days later I call the RCMP and ask if everything’s alright the woman tells me that nothing’s missing and to call back in 30 days if nothing happens.
May 10th: I call again the woman says that my file was already transferred to the Quebec CFO around a month ago and that they should finalize it.
I call again around June. (I lost track of my calls) A woman tells me that the CFO worked on my file last week (from the time I called) and to call back in a month.
I called last week and asked to be transferred to the CFO as there was no change to the online status and none of my references have been called yet, after waiting for over 20 minutes on the RCMP and CFO line I am finally able to speak to someone, she takes my info and puts me on hold. When she comes back she says that it’s a restricted and that they have A LOT of requests right now and that it would probably take more than a month or month and a half (August-September) to be approved and that the RCMP transferred it to them late and to call back if I have further questions.

So now its been 4 months+ and I’m really hoping to be approved before the end of the summer!
Is there someone else from Quebec with a similar timeline? Would my age influence this as Im pretty young?
I’m really starting to think Quebec has by far the WORST processing times but I’m keeping my hopes up for July!
