Hey everyone,

I’ve been looking into setting up a .308 range gun mostly for steel at 300 yards. I’m down to these two and I found a store that has the acr in stock.

Which way would you go and why? Is the extra $800’ish for the act worth it?

Thank you!

Edit but can’t edit title- xcr

I sold my XCR-M to fund a Stag 10. Although the XCR was a good firearm I don't regret switching platforms one bit. The Stag is lighter, better balanced, more accurate and it is easily customizable.

My best friend owns both and was selling his XCR-M:
- great rifle with few accessories or parts (match barrel, etc)
- with any AR like platform, the sky is the limit!

I’ve owned and loved an XCR-L but find that NR AR like rifles are 2-3 times.

Are they even selling XCRs anymore??? Lol

Yes, and am considering buying an XCR-L for the folding stock and side charging handle alone ;)
The AR design is a masterpiece but I love folding stocks and Eugene Stoner put the charging handle in the wrong spot.
(The original AR10 charging lever in the carrying handleis super cool!!!)

This is what I was looking for, I want to be able to play around with function. The reviews are great on both but the stag 10

They are completely different platforms that have strengths and weakness - those that mostly complain about XCR's simply have different needs that are better fit for Stag. Stag will give you more options to tinker around and build what you want around an AR10 platform. XCR's are out of the box fighting rifles with multi caliber support.

There were no non-restricted AR-10 style platforms when I was ready to buy so I got the XCR-M. Truth be told I was holding out for the SCAR -Heavy after some SCAR-Lites were allowed in-country but then the RCMP happened with their bullcrap.... so I bought an XCR-M and never looked back. While it is a little front heavy it's no worse than carrying my heavy barrel long range rigs in the woods. It shoots well and digests everything I have ever fed it. It will also surprise you with a tailored hand load.

You only go around once so buy what you want the most: most importantly shoot the darn thing and enjoy it!

Also I’m having a really hard time finding a local retailer with one in stock, I’ve never even held it and I can’t bring myself to order it online without at least shouldering it

Check Wolverine Supplies Virden MB, they are the importers if you use good ammo or good reloads you just might be surprised at how accurate they can be!

You can't compare an L to a stag 10. I would buy an acr over the xcr L all day long and it has the folder and side charging that you want

There is also the modern varmint from arts, but it is a much higher price point, has the side charge though

Are you looking for a prebuilt Stag? $1k should be alright for a optic, mount and a bipod.

Yeah prebuilt to start. Might eventually change trigger and barrel but in no rush. Most of the optics I’m looking at are around ~1000

Should be a good time for a 300-500 yard hopefully gun

Cabela's Barrie had one in stock
https://www.cabelas.ca/product/69872/robinson-armament-xcr-m-semi-auto-rifle

And one other shop in Barrie
https://topguntacticalsales.com/product/robinson-armament-xcr-m-308-win-18-6-hb-key-mod-odg/

I held the one they had at Cabela's which was the "LB" and was as light as the Stag if not the same and was better balanced due to the "LB", that being said I bought the Stag 10. For many reasons, price, parts availability/upgrades,warranty,

The other thing I didn't like was every dealer has the "key mod" version and no "mlok". No biggie for some.
