Worst hunting product you've ever seen?

Few years ago a guy at moose camp had these really nice new flip finger hunting gloves Really warm , waterproof and magnets to hold them open........ his compass always pointed north at his wrist. Most dangerous gloves I ever seen until he cut the magnets out !!!!!

I've seen an episode on wild tv a number of years back, the guy held the fan up with one hand while he crawled to a group of toms out in a field. I thought only in America!!

I saw on a netflix show where a guy was setting up a big strutting tom decoy. He was all like Normally I would never use a Tom for a decoy, but I'm on a ### acre private fenced property so its safe for me to do this here. Then I stopped watching. lol

lol I've got gloves like that. Never had an issue with my compass though - but I'm smart enough to realize the magnets may cause issues if you don't think about them.

So you won't hunt over a tom decoy at all?

Bought a strutting Tom remote battery operated decoy, lugged it to the bush twice, now it is used as an occasional lawn gag. Friggin thing weighted a ton and was awkward as hell to carry. Went back to using my old foam roll up decoys, just put a new paint job on them good as new.

I never bought one, but the breast bone saw with a t-handle and a stopper on the tip. Short strokes and supposedly you're done.

My #2 suggestion would be pocket knives with replaceable blades. How you can change the knife blade for a saw blade without slicing your fingers I don't know.

The Butt Out tool is cleaner and quicker than a knife and reaping toms with a tom decoy is the most exciting way to hunt turkey. It's done in open fields so the risk of being shot is quite low.

Different strokes for different folks...

Remington 105 CTi shotgun. The first one did not cycle properly and after many boxes of ammo (just needs to wear in, sir) was finally replaced by another one. The new one proved to be worse: a live round got jammed and I had to disassemble a loaded rifle on the range. After pointing out that their warranty obliged them to fix the gun, replace it with a gun of comparative value or give my money back Remington offered me a rifle worth half of what I paid for their lemon CTi. They only relented and paid up when they were served the papers for small claims.

I saw another Tom decoy similar to that. Basically a large umbrella with a fanning Tom pattern on it. You carry it open in front of you as you creep along, and can set it down as a stationary blind to hide behind.

Pretty much exactly how I killed my tom this year, with a homemade decoy from a real fan. I can't imagine an angle where a guy crouched over, holding a fan and making his way across an open field would be mistaken for a turkey (within shotgun range!), but I also knew I was the only one hunting there.

I try to think of what could possibly go wrong with a situation. I hunt private land but doesn't mean someone doesn't try and sneak on. And what about the fellas(not hunters) that will get a turkey using something other than a shotgun, extending the range. I know there's quite a few of them. LGS owner told me you'd be surprised how many guys bring a turkey in to his contest with a fist sized hole in the bird.

I guess a 3/4 blind guy with open sights on a rifle that snuck into private property might mistake me for a bird, but I may also get struck by lightning, so there's that.

Based on your concerns, I hope you wear a vest with plates when you're calling. Being totally camo'd and making turkey noises (which I normally do as well) sounds pretty dangerous if there are poachers about.

FYI, you'll also produce a fist sized hole in a turkey with a shotgun from 10 feet away if you are silly enough to shoot one in the wrong place from that distance.
