I’m trying to decided which one to go with for a plinker and occasional target shooter not competitively tho. I wanna shoot the 75 eldm with a decent speed but not a barre burning speed. 223 a i sounds good in some ways and also annoying to fireform brass etc for a noob at reloading. If I go 22-250 or even creedmoor I’d wanna make the loads more mild but still faster than a 223 could push the 75 eldm’s as to increase the barrel life a bit more. 22-250 clearly has more brass options and cheaper brass available. Any advice? I like 223 a lot that’s for sure. More barrel life that way

Something to consider is case capacity, might help with powder volume vs speed.

22-250 around 45
22 creedmoor around 53
If you're getting a custom barrel, take your pick. If not watch twist rates on the 22-250.
I'd go with the 22 creed just for the fact that you could run the 75s real quick and could launch the heavies if you wanted to.

I would encourage you to focus on a straight 223 and forget the other options...
I have shot a lot of 223 in F Class over the years out to 1000 yards. The only real trick to it is having the right chamber and twist rate.
1:8 twist is a solid choice and mostly what I used for accuracy with 80 grain SMKs, but I do like to spin them quicker yet and have other 223s with 1:7 twist barrels.
The main thing is that it is throated for an overall length of at least 2.5" instead of the typical factory OAL of 2.25"... That alone will give you enough case capacity to easily hit 2900 FPS and have great barrel life.
If you can find one... the now discontinued Ruger Precision rifle in 223 will do all of the above and out of the box with the 75 grain ELDs jam at 2.5" OAL... so you don't necessarily need to get into a full custom build.

I was in a similar situation and I ended up going with the regular .223rem I figured that if I wanted to push some heavy .224 projectiles really fast then I would go with a 22creed but I was looking to build a training rifle so the price/ease of .223rem trumped all. I would definitely factor this in.
Forgot to mention I want the barrel at 18” or 20”. Most likely 20” though. I have a 24” 223 1-8” twist. I’m doing a build on impact action but I definitely have a thing for the 223 and it’s loser cost to run. I like the idea of 6mm, 6.5 and 7mm also but the bullles cost a lot more money for reloading than 22 cal does.
Was wanting a lighter setup without having to go with a lift barrel but I don’t like sacrificing speed that’s for sure. Heavy Palma or marksmen contour cut short. Or I supposed a rem varmint contour wouldn’t be that heavy at 24”
Wow that’s a nice build. Seriously nice. I suppose I could use my new greyboe terrain stock that is for my vudoo v22 and use that stock with a longer rem varmint barrel to get more speed out of the 223. Your barrel is .830” at the muzzle right?

what does the less case stretch mean in practical terms? how many more reloads will you get with the same brass using equal pressure? I'm also looking into setting up a long range 22 center fire.
Why not go with an 8 twist 22-250?
It's a good compromise between the 223 and the 22 Creedmoor. I've wrote the 22cm off due to it burning up barrels faster than I'd like to deal with. And with the 223 you'll always find yourself pushing it to the max to try and achieve your objective.
The 22-250 won't burn up barrels as fast as the 22cm and you can still push heavy projectiles quick enough out of the 22-250. Plus if you want to you can easily download to shoot at 223 velocities and save even more barrel life. Plus you can seat the bullets out as long as you need to without having to worry about them fitting in the magazine.
