If you had $10,000, what make, model and cartridge hunting rifle would you choose? My choice would be a Dakota Model 76 African Traveler chambered for the 300 H&H.

Barrett 82 A1 But I'd have to have that grand before Trudeau's second term, 'cause it sure won't stay NR for long.
What would I hunt with a 50 BMG? Something where saving the meat or pelt was of little concern.
How 'bout feral hogs? From a helicopter, in Texas!

The Barrett is already prohib. But the Serbu BFG 50A or Sero Engineering GM6M Lynx are both NR.

How and when did it get classified prohib.?

The M82 was named prohib years ago, the M107 suffers the same fate as it is a "variant".

Unfortunately it suffered from the same ominous movie fame that most OIC named prohib firearms did, which was what ultimately led to them being singled out for OIC bans.

Basically any firearm that existed within pop culture during the bans did not survive. The AR15 is the only one really, and it's perma-restricted status is it's battle scar.

My one true love - a Ruger #1 in 30-06.

I admit that I am not a connoisseur of guns and don't know everything there is to know about all the different guns but I do know what I like. I can shoot it with extreme accuracy, and it feels good in my hands. I may not impress anyone but it makes me happy.

Your relationship with your Ruger is priceless, I understand as I have 9 of them.

I have a hankering for a Sako Finnlight 2 (20 inch stainless barrel) in 6.5 Creedmoor and a 1X8 Nightforce optic with Talley lightweight rings and Andy Langlois 1 inch shooting sling.
This should be a very nice River valley Mulie rifle that will be a joy to carry, easy on the shoulder and ears and more than accurate enough for the job (up to 400 yards for those cross canyon shots)

This should also use up most of that 10K.

I should also add to anyone that's intrested on CGN that my birthday is coming up;)
