Are there computer/server issues at milsurps.com, as it is very slow and non responsive to the mouse and keyboard?

The screen just hangs up most of the time?

To go from the home page to the forum page takes several minutes on high speed.

Nice rifle!

Actually, I think we are using the same host server as CGN, though they certainly have more allocated bandwidth than we do because of their higher traffic volume.

I do notice the main page is loading a bit slow today - I'll pass it along to our techie :) Hopefully we can get it resolved for you shortly.

Must be something between your ISP provider and your location to our hosts.

Just checked the response Pingdom Tools (click here)http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/?url=www.milsurps.com/index.php and for me, it's running under 7 seconds for Main Home Page and about 5 seconds for Forums Home Page. For a site with a focus on firearms graphics like ours, that's excellent. Times will vary depending upon the performance between Pingdom's site and our hosts, but at least it separates local issues from remote ones. :D

Save the Pingdom link and use it for any site you want to validate total performance independent of your own location, including time to read various PHP pages.

Hope this helps... :)

Regards,
Badger

Edit: Where are you located Coyote?

It's really hit and miss (2 in 10?). But I can go to any other gun site and it's very fast. I go back to milsurps.com
and it's like molasses in January! Just lags. Odd.

That's too bad.... :(

I've run diagnostics through Pingdom Tools several different ways and from their site to our dedicated host, the worst I've got is 8-10 seconds. I notice from our referral site monitor, that all of a sudden there's also a pile of folks from here running the same tests, as I can see where they're coming from. ;)

You realize of course that you can go directly to the forums and not go through the Home Page by using this as your link.

That might help.... :)

Will give it a try! Thanks.

It worked Badger!

That's great ....

Thanks for testing it...

Please send me a PM or email anytime to see something odd that changes your performance. The current dedicated server is spec'd to handle 250 concurrent users, so I think we have a ways to go yet. :D

Heck, I'm not sure we have 250 serious milsurp collectors computer literate enough to get that many on-line at one time anyway. ;)

Badger
