They say failure is a good thing. That it drives inspiration and innovation. That to finally hit the “Mark” you must first fail, then listen, then learn, and then respond with everything you’ve got. We agree. Meet the BCL 102 MK7.

The BCL 102 MK7 is a standard BCL102 that has been fitted with an upper receiver that was designed with Black Creek’s mission in mind. Lighter. More accurate. More reliable. The MK7 boasts a receiver set and handguard machined to tighter tolerances and finished with a (type III class 2) hard anodize and an option for a standard or custom elite cerakote coating over the hard anodize. The MK7 barrel nut is made of hardened steel and is factory torqued to eliminate barrel shift. A DPMS thread pattern on the upper receiver and a milspec buffer tube allows for easy modification. A custom detent plate is equipped with a QD point allowing for easy sling placement and the fire controls are ambidextrous.

The MK7 Bolt has been brought back to milspec and the gas port is CNC drilled to a size that provides reliability for almost all commercial .308 ammunition. The MK7 bolt and extractor are made on an in-house Swiss turn CNC machine in one operation allowing for tighter tolerances and a perfect lock up. The bolt is hardened with a C2 process that combines a cryogenic superfinish and carburization. A new chambering technique, a Magpul MOE stock and grip, perfect bolt lock up and a tighter relationship between the upper and lower receiver combine to bring the accuracy of the MK7 to near 1 MOA out of the box.

The BCL102 MK7 can be optioned with a BCL adjustable drop-in trigger, a Magpul PRS stock and an IBI stainless barrel, making it a guaranteed sub MOA rifle and one of the most cost-effective precision, semi-automatic .308s in the world.

Canada spoke. We listened.

Taking them at their word this is good, although it acknowledges they used early adopters as beta testers.

This update appears to have addressed many of the known issues:

DPMS barrel nut
Barrel nut installed properly
Hard anodising
Gas issues fixed
Bolt issues fixed

Wonder about real world pricing with the Troy and Stag out there.

Interesting. Really liked my recent-production one, but yeah, the Armalite barrel nut threading was dumb. The factory charging handle was decent, but not being able to replace it with a Raptor as the sizing (on mine at least) was slightly-different was another minor bummer. The fact that the right-side bolt release wasn't also a bolt catch was a bit of a disappointment... wonder if they re-engineered that little detail?

......I want to believe this. I want to and I suspect many of us do. And I have learned as I get older and wiser that these are the moments to be as skeptical as ever.

Will watch patiently on official round 2 on this one.

i say screw them buy a us made product like a stag 10 that is sold to a market that has standards. imagine if the pulled this crap state side...

School me on this whole BCL thibg where it made it less reliable than the regular ar308?

Reason i am asking is, the bcl is probably a good base to build on, and i dont mind going that way

there is a plethora of bcl102 threads/posts to sort thru
some guys love them, some guys hate them
bottom line is that after SIX renditions in under 2 years , the company felt the need to make rendition 7 and release a statement that says "we're sorry for using Canadian firearms owners as beta testers" (my words, not exactly thiers LOL)
personally, I have no interest in this company's products.

We looked at the latest products and were impressed. Furthermore we spoke to the new management and it appears that past problems were more often based on management and design problems than machining and assembly. We have also been offered a trial rifle to use on the range so we can actually run one hard and confirm the latest claims. We should know soon enough if the problems have been addressed.

Stay far far away. The gun is an absolute nightmare, especially if you pick one up used.

The BCL-102 pre-order was for 1800$ and now the guns sell for 1000$ on the EE. A couple exploded. The ones that didn't explode required a BCG replacement kit be supplied by BCL to function correctly due to poor ejector design (among other issues)... Some very basic design mistakes were made. The worst and most inexcusable problem IMHO is that when faced with wide spread issues BCL left it's customers with their dicks in their hands. Rifles sat in their "warranty center" for MONTHS. Then BCL shut down it's customer service department and there was no way to reach the company for months.

The BCL 102 is not a good base to build a rifle, it's a good base for a case study in a university business admin class on how NOT to run a business...

The scariest part is all it takes is a newer, shinier one and people quickly forget...

I think the scarier part of this whole thing was TROY using BCLs design

That's kind of what I mean, all the evidence points to this being a scam. It's about that sweet sweet PRE-ORDER MONEY.

They released the 102 and didn't take care of the customers who bought one. Customers payed 1800$ and the rifle now sells for 1000$.

Instead of addressing the issues, they spent their time convincing Troy to stick their name on a new version so they could do another PRE-ORDER. The Troy 102 was on pre-order for 1600$ and now sells for 1300$.

Now, here we are with the Mk7, and guess what.... Oh another pre-order!

How many times can they pull off the same scam? How many times will people fall for it? If you people put money down on this rifle sight unseen you should see a doctor about being tested for dementia.

Same issues when it was NEA, they claim BCL is a different company with different people running the show, but it's amazing how many similar issues exist between the 2.
From day 1 I asked why can they not make anything to spec? It's not rocket surgery, all the design specs are out there for every piece and part. Dozens of US companies make rifles and parts that will interchange, NEA/BCL just cannot seem to pull that off. It's either out of spec, or they put their own spin on it (like the barrel nuts that allowed the barrel pin to slide under the upper causing KABOOMS).
They should be making kitchen utensils or something, not rifles, that is a bit too far above their skill levels.

Actually it was on Pre-order for $1710+tax and shipping with regular price of $1800+tax and shipping. When SFRC was asked if there was a IOP, he said no because margins are slim. Then they cut the price down to $1330 all in...because "margins are slim". Then he deletes the Troy102 sale thread once they were all sold. Actions speak louder than words.

The fact that TSE is more truthful and honest considering their past actions is telling.

I also have a feeling JR didnt like dealing with Ryan at SFRC and which is why it looks like they're dropping the Troy line and are selling/making Sterling rifles.

Not exactly what happened and there is no need to pre order a MK7 dealers will have stock and in Calgary at least you can actually try one and decide for yourself if it works.

I don't understand why anyone participates in pre sales, soon that is all there will be, retailers will not stock anything, just place an order with their supplier after an order is placed. Enabling businesses to move away from having physical inventory to sell takes all the risk out of operating a business.

Imagine your hot water tank bursts in your home and the only way to get a new one is to put your name and deposit on a presale list before the manufacturer is willing to make a production run
