Is it wrong to let someone else get first blood with a rifle?

Lay off the meth for a while and rethink what you just asked everyone here. You may be nearing drug induced psychosis with regards to firearms and life in general.

Doug, you forgot to tell Clark that the ritual involves his friend washing certain things belonging to Clark while they both chant "I can't quit you". This invokes the "become one" part of the karma.

Notwithstanding the naysayers, I think those are good questions.

I think you should sight in the rifle, with YOUR handloads, so you KNOW it can shoot. Your buddy should be present to witness this. Then HE should shoot the rifle, with your handloads, with YOU present. Now you both agree that the rifle and the ammo are just fine, and any subsequent FUBAR on his part should not strain your friendship.

I am not going to hand the rifle to him and say "give it back to me when you are done" That would defeat the purpose. I'lll be right there, hopefully wiht a video camera.

Every bear I shot wiht my 375 H&H and 300gr Partitions dropped liek a sack of hammers...I expect the 260gr Accubond to do the same.:)

He knows I can shoot, knows that I understand how to handload, so none of that should be a issue. He knows how to shoot, too, best trap shooter we have in our club, too. ;)

Now here is the part that I think you MUST do to invoke good karma for the gun:

On a night of a full moon, with the hunting ammo in your LEFT hand pocket, find a well-rotted stump full of rainwater. Rinse your testicles in the stump-water, three times, and rub the ammo against your left testicle each time, taking great care not to allow the cartridges to touch your right testicle. Then dry yourself and the ammo, put the ammo in your RIGHT hand pocket, while backing away from the stump. Now place a large paper bag over your head and walk around the stump six times six, all the while clucking like a chicken.

Your gun's karma will remain intact no matter what.

Doug

PS) I'm serious!

You mean not EVERYONE does this??? I've been doing it for years. Only time I forgot this ritual cost me BIG time, when I missed a ram that I had hunted for 19 days for....:runaway:

"...hunted for years..." If he's hunted for years, why does he need your rifle? There's nothing in North America that needs a 375 anything to kill.

I am looking out the window of my house, at a large rock. This large rock appears to have better comprehension skills than you do.

Sorry but I still don't understand this .375 Ruger thing..

To better help you understand the 375 Ruger Thing, try Googling "metallic centerfire cartridge development. This will make you aware of devices known as "primers" "bullets" "smokeless propellent" and "brass cartridge cases":p

Save your brass/QUOTE]

I do indeed save it to reload it. Luckily, 375 Ruger brass is easy to come by if you want it, I've got lots of cases, but, like most of my rifle that get shot alot- I want more, as I only have about 100 right now, which will only last me another 5 years or so.

Ghey is spending more money and waiting for a rifle to be built, and not having it for hunting season, when one that is just as good is available off the shelf.:p:evil:
Even more ghey than that is owning a bunch of moose rifles and not being able to hunt moose, which of course is the case here with me. :(

I'll be taking the 375 to the Yukon next year. Hope it's done by then. ;)

If it was an Enfield, I'd have no problem lending it to your buddy but tell him to back off and get his own Ruger. Lending it to him would be like lending him your prom queen girlfriend for a 2 week canoe trip.

You see with your eyes not with your fingers. I'd leave your Ruger right in the safe until it is time for you to deflower her.

My 2 cents.

Is it wrong for someone else to get first blood wiht your new rifle? Will it jinx the rifle i any way? Will it give the rifle good karma?

Deep thoughts here....
I'm not assuming your bud won't be a Great shot but..........
We all know $hit happens....even to the best of Us.
What kind of Karma would your New Rifle have if the worst happens....wounded or lost Bear ?

I'd have to sell it after that.................Better shoot the Bear yourself;)

Clarke......It's a nice gesture....offer....let him decide and post what that thing can do. I want to see the results too.

There is a good sized bear that my buddy keeps seeing near his place. I've seen it on video and I htink I'd shoot it...

Anyway, he just bought his first bear tag, hunted for years, but never bears.

I'm really interested to see what happens when Mr Bear meets Mr 375 Ruger, so I am offering it to him to use on Mr Bear.

There's your bad karma right there; Requiring a tank to topple a black bear. And I agree with one of the other posters; if he misses, throw it in the lake.

My .2 cents
