The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

Pretty sure that if the craftsmanship comes near the old ones and they sell well, Colt will release a lot of limited editions and commemoratives through Lew Horton.
 
First impression after reading the article and watching the video looks optimistic. Can’t wait to see it from my own eyes.
 
Pretty nice and I’m glad Colt is getting back in the game.

I got a new King Cobra recently. It’s a really nice revolver and well made. Smooth trigger and really like the fibre optic front sight. It’s got some MIM parts but if done properly not an issue at all.

There were concerns on the internet about cylinder play and lock up on the new KC. I compared to my original Python and Anaconda and it has no more or less cylinder play.

Now I just gotta think about what bbl length to get. Maybe Anaconda next?

Wondering what this will do to current used pricing. I'm thinking these new ones won't havea any collector's appeal.

I don’t think it will affect the original Python prices but for collectors who are high volume shooters wanting to preserve the condition and value of their original this is definitely great news if of course the new Python lives up to the original standard. The new ones won’t be collectible if mass produced unless limited editions or commemoratives are manufactured
 
Hope I’ll be able to fondle one at SHOT, and compare to the ones I have. Will know for sure if they even come close to the original.
 
Thanks for posting the video Harry. I have to say I'm interested in getting my hands on a new one to try. However, it kind of makes me think 'huh?' When the old Pro says the old Python trigger was 'crap'. Really? I've had several dozen S&W revolvers, and a couple dozen Colts. Still have about 16 or 18 of each. And while I really like my Smiths, and shoot them more, my shooter Python still has the finest trigger of any gun I've ever owned or shot (it's an '84). And that is comparing it side by side with my 27-2 and 66 that had the triggers done by Murray Charlton. I also have a 14-3 (K38) that is fantastic. The Python is better....granted it came out of the Colt Custom shop with a Patridge front sight and Eliasson rear, and the trigger tuned up for Bullseye.....anyway, I respect the guy's opinion, but I don't agree with it as far as categorizing old Python triggers as 'crap'. Whether the new one is better....I'd like to find out.

I would like to shoot mine side by side with a new one, and with my 5'' 27-2, and compare.

I don't know. I have a hard time imagining that it won't have a significant impact on the value of anything other than mint in box or special edition originals. Some just care about the look. If this turns out to be a stronger gun and better DA shooter as suggested by Mr Hackathorn, that matters.

I suppose though, that many folks will continue to want the deep polished blued finish of the originals which is not on current offer.

As soon as I see my fav online store has pre-order I will very likely put down a pre-order right away. Now I am happy I didn't buy the Rhino Nebula or the PPQ Metal frame . But.... I am also super excited about the new Ruger 57... I want both but I don't think I can afford both.
