The 220 gr 308 Hornady Bullet has a SD of 331 ! AS Good as it Gets ! a 6.5 Horn 160 gr is .328 ! Also Excellent ! RJ

Yes it Prob WOULD be Excellent but with more muzzle blast and Recoil !
I GUESS i should not be concerned about muzzle blast as my 16.5 " Ruger has a BRAKE on it so its BLASTY too ! BUT it sure does TAME the recoil - Dream to shoot for recoil ! RJ

Non-restricted 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 338JDJ #2 loaded with 180gr Accubonds @ 2500fps it is a 300 yard moose combo.
This one is chambered in 375JDJ loaded with 220gr/225gr Hornady @ 2250fps is a 200 yard moose capable combo.

My version, I want speeds that allow impacts above 2200fps for a couple hundred yards. Throws 260gr Accubonds are 2550fps, supersonic to 1000 yards. Fits five down in a standard magazine, and can even fit in an M70 short action. I’ll have to build that variation one day on a SS M70.
I've been collecting T/C Contenders for over 25 years now so have been able to source used or new here in Canada and from the States when it was still legal to just ship direct.
The 375JDJ barrel came used from GunBroker and shipped directly to me the 338JDJ #2 I bought used on the CGN EE as a complete handgun sold the restricted frame and installed the barrel onto a non-restricted frame that I bought thru IRUNGUNS both barrels were made by SSK Ind which is now called SSK Firearms since Lehigh Bullets purchased them last year.
Ron at NINE35 in Canada stocks barrels and imports Match Grade Machine barrels and Mike Bellm parts.
Other options I am looking at right now are buying barrels - parts direct from MGM and SSK Firearms and having them imported I have not done this yet but might very soon.
SSK Firearms is selling the vent rib scope base on the 338JDJ #2 barrel separately so I'm looking at bringing one in and having it installed onto my 375JDJ barrel.
SSK Firearms is also right now manufacturing have not shipped any yet a remake of the original Contender receivers they are calling them SSK-50 I am planning on buying one to try ProPhet River will import it for $250 I spole with IRUNGUNs they may stock them when SSK starts shipping if they do it would be $25 to import like anyother firearm they ship to Canada so I'm waiting before I buy.
Also I don't only have short 14" barreled Contenders I also have 19 - 24" barrels my blacktail buck I shot this year was with a 21" factory tapered T/C Contender in 7-30 Waters I bought used several years ago from a fellow on HuntingBC chat forum.
They are extremely accurate = the grouse in the 338JDJ #2 I shot in the head at appr 80 yards with the 200gr SST load.
My 21" barreled 223 loaded with 40gr V-Max gives 1 1/2" 300 yard 3 shot groups my 21" barreled 375JDJ loaded with 260gr Accubonds does the same.
The short 14" barrels are the only firearms I load for that I load for velocity only they are so inherently accurate.

I have bolt and lever guns as well right now my favorite bolt gun I bought thru Todd Bartell is a 22" factory tapered/fluted barreled sa Rem 700 LTR (light tactical rifle) in 6.8SPC.
I have it in a OD green Magpul Hunter 700 stock my detachable metal mags are MDT 5 round 308 hold 5 rounds of 6.8SPC or MDT's 10 round plastic 223 mags that hold 8 6.8SPC rounds.
Loaded with 95gr TTSX @ 2950fps or 110gr Accubonds @ 2750fps it is a suuper accurate 300 yard deer and 400 yard coyote combo.
I also have a shortened to 19" T/C Contender carbine barrel in 6.8SPC it's also a 300 yard deer combo.
This is my Contender in 6.8spc Nov 21 2017 blacktail.
