Yeah, I bought mine out of the old paper Bargain Finder from a fellow that used it to shoot beavers on a golf course. I'd rate it excellent on coyotes and it will work on deer and excellent for shooting with kids.

I have trouble with the notion of a varmint rifle. Mice are vermin, headlice are vermin, skunks are vermin. Traps, poisons, and shotguns are the answers.

Coyotes are more of a small game animal or furbearer, they just aren't disgusting enough to be vermin.

It is not any easier to load, and despite all of the claims of extended brass life, I have gotten a dozen loads on the standard Hornet case.... Hornet brass is cheap.

1 grain more of Lil Gun, which I then had to back off a half grain to get it to shoot, functionally half a grain difference... whoop. I personally prefer the slender elegant neck of the original version, to the abrupt shoulder on the K version.
 
I've had numerous .22 Hornet arms over the years including a scoped Uberti rolling block pistol. Great little round to work with & a peach on critters inside 200 yds.
The .17 Rem is another favorite of mine along with the .22-250. The .22LR has always been me go to varmint number though as I get way more shootin' fer the buck
along with better access to grey squirrel or gopher filled areas near settlements.

My neighbor has been getting $180 per yote pelt here this year...not a bad price for a little bit of work.
 
Just started using the 243 for varmits with 85tsx Barnes. Shows promise but still need test samples and they are not cooperating that much Ones I got hole is about a thumb size. I use it also on deer and worked well
 
I'm using 204 Ruger, 223, 22-250, 6mm-284, two 25-06 and 6.8SPC this year.

My go to has for over 30 years been my 22-250 this year my go to is my 6.8spc for a change.
 
I enjoyed shooting the 204 Ruger while I had it.
Really enjoyed the 218 Bee, but probably most because it was in the Browning Model 65...never should have sold that rifle!
Really like my 17 Mach II as well! Very accurate, but definitely not up to larger "varmints" at longer distances! LOL worked just fine on a large lynx @ 40 yards...still looking fora silver fox with it!

Have used the 222 in a Brno Fox II as well...very accurate little rifle I hope to get from a friend someday.
A Winchester Low Wall in 22 Hornet would be a fun little rifle to carry, shoot and hunt with!
 
I built a 218Bee on a Stevens 044-1/2 action in 92, shot plenty of gophers with it since then, few yotes too. With L'il gun I can run this gun at 3200 w/40gr bullets, an option I didn't have back when I built it, even with that, I still had 2800 out of it with 50gr quite comfortably. I have a 223, had a few 22-250's. Couldn't see the need for the powder usage and recoil in the 22-250 at the time. I cut the powder usage by 2/3's at the time, gave up some speed. But, I was using 400rds in a weekend at the time. I got the 223 because I wanted an 1885, and the price was right at the time. I have shot it a bit, not nearly what I've done with the Bee though. With the powders and bullets now, I can pretty much do what the 22-250 did, with the 223, just using a lighter bullet.
 
I feel like I’m a new gun owner compared to a lot of you, but between .17 hmr, .223 and .243, I’ve had a lot of fun on varmints the last decade. I did however kill my last coyote with a 480gr hard cast .458” bullet going about 1700 at the muzzle. I don’t know what it was going at 180 yards. I’m sure the .40 cal metplat keeps the BC about .100, but it was very effective on it, and 4 feet into the dirt behind it.
