Matt,
Do you have anything in writing in regards to this action from DU?
We would like to broach this immediately with our chapter as well, given how much we as a community give them.
JR
Good morning,
It has come to my attention that Ducks Unlimited Canada is not sharing the providing information to its membership on the online petition of E-2341.
This petition which has been endorsed by MP Glen Motz has currently over 140,000 signatures of concerned firearm owners and supporters from across Canada. Provincial wildlife federations have assisted in sharing the information to their members, they are a conduit in sharing this information to firearm owners.
I am appalled that DU has not stepped up to share in this process. Thousands of DU members are firearms owners and the sweeping legislation which may occurr is something which will affect all firearms owners which in turn will have an effect on conservation and wildlife management. One of your board members from Saskatchewan, James E. Couch holds a seat on the Canadian Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to provide advice to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness on pragmatic measures to reform Canada’s firearms policies, laws and regulations to ensure a modernized firearms regime that will keep Canadians safe and safeguard their rights and freedoms in an open and democratic society. Yet, Ducks Unlimited will still not share this information with its membership?
How am I as a business owner in the firearms industry, a sport shooter, a hunter, a former RCMP officer, and a landowner expected to continue to support an organization which will not even share E-2341 to its members?
Please contact me at your earliest convenience at 204-748-2454 or matthew@wolverinesupplies.com.
Regards,
Matt
Why not share this with every gun club and shooting range, as well as the wildlife federations?
DU has always claimed they are a conservation organization and not a firearms related organization.
They did have a post but have scrubbed it from all their social media, and actively sent out an internal email saying they are staying neutral while sitting on the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee. So Staying neutral while being on the committee says 100% they are for this ban. They are allowing themselves to be the imaginary consultation of hunters in regards to these new laws, and are complicit in in the liberal agenda of banning semi auto firearms. If they themselves want to stay neutral they need to remove themselves from that committee. By staying on the committee and staying silent on this topic they have signaled they are for a ban, and do not support firearms ownership in Canada.

Ducks unlimited is a conservation organization. Yes it's super popular with hunters and firearm owners, but their main goal is to establish a sustainable wetland resource. Not fight political battles about guns that have nothing to do with what their organization stands for.
I get it, need everyone on board, but you're essentially asking a neutral group to pick a side and getting the gun community wound up. It is entirely unfair to put the spotlight on them and expect them to support us.
Regardless of what the heritage is with duck hunters, anglers, and the involvement of DUC, its appalling to see all these comments about people trying to get their clubs and even themselves to stop supporting them. Everyone going to stop visiting national and provincial parks too while were at it? Maybe boycott local campgrounds and conservation centers too?
Dont stop supporting a good cause because they choose to rightfully keep out of something that has ZERO to do with them and their cause.
This has nothing to do with " fighting political battles about guns that have nothing to do with what their organization stands for"
This is about supporting democracy by endorsing e-2341, who said anything about fighting?

I saw this on your Facebook channel Matt.
Tracy Wilson posted there she spoke with them - can you comment on your conversation if you spoke with her afterwards?
