After all the humming and hawing, I finally gave up on my dream of having a 9mm 1911 and got the range kit from Tenda. $619 for the 2.0 was too cheap to pass up. Is the gritty and horrible trigger effectively fixed in the 2.0 version? I also got the standard 4.25" barrel and wonder if it's possible to fit the 5" long slide and barrel on this in the future. Hopefully this pistol will out-shoot me for a good and long time. Also it's irritating that you can't use & in the thread title.

I don't have one yet, but everything I've seen on the 2.0 indicates the trigger is improved and more along the lines of the M&p pro. Actually most the improvements in the 2.0 were things they improved in the pro version of the first original.

I wouldn't say 'crappy' or 'gritty'. In comparison to some triggers I've had in the safe (even a couple DA/SA guns), I found it quite pleasant. The biggest thing I found was getting used to the take up at the hinge. Once that's out of the way, it's really just a softer breaking Glock trigger. Aka. Stern and abrupt. Overall, the package will out shoot you for some time. The only thing I changed on mine were the sights, and I loved them. Second favorite poly.

M&P triggers generally take some wearing in. I put an Apex kit in my M&P45 1.0...the 2.0 trigger is about as good as the Apex, IMO.

M&Ps aren't designed or intended for match-grade accuracy, but for anything resembling realistic shooting, they will certainly do the job if _you_ will do.

I like the M&P trigger, has a distinct stop before breaking, feels the same as my Glock.
The Ruger SR9 trigger was terrible enough I sold it...no indication when it was ready to fire.

Agreed, if you can learn to shoot a factory trigger well you can shoot anything well. OP, the trigger on the 2.0 is nicer than the first gen. As are a couple other design changes on the 2.0, grip texture is improved as well. The m&p is a nice shooting pistol, I’ve never had a malfunction with my first gen, accuracy is plenty good if I do my part.

My brother ordered the CZ p10f so we can do some comparison. I really wish I could have gotten the long slide for the same kit deal bit oh well

I concur, the CZ P10 is similar money and more refined than the M&P. Only thing is mags are hard to find in stock as are holsters.

Nice thing about a Glock or M&P: when you forget to take your mags to the IDPA match someone can loan you some! I've even loaned a spare Glock holster to a guy who forgot his at home!

I'm confused, did you buy the first or second generation M&P? The second gen has the better grips and some other changes. The reason I ask is the trigger on the 2.0 is reportedly MUCH better than the 1.0.

I only see the first gen for sale at tenda right now at $619 for the range kit.

Ive owned both the gen 1 and 2.0 and couldnt really feel any major difference except that the 2.0 felt somewhat less gritty out of the box. I did however notice one particular notch in my trigger pull with my 2.0 45acp which was from a very small imperfection on my trigger bar at the tip of the part that contacts the striker block. 10 seconds on my bench polisher fixed that up. Reset was almost non existent on both models. An apex kit completely transforms the gun though I'll add.

2.0 is a great gun with a respectable trigger. I've had one since they became available, and have shot it lots. It's a great gun.

Having said that, my new favorite pistol is my Sig P320. Head and shoulders above any strikers. What an awesome gun. The 2.0 is not far behind though, so that says alot as far as my experience goes.

The Tenda M&P Range Kit for $619 is the Gen 1. It still is a decent buy and a good gun. I hope the OP is happy with his purchase. I have owned both the 4.25" and the 5" Pro. The longer sight radius is not enough difference to worry about. I actually prefer the shorter barreled gun.

Take Care

Bob

Same crappy trigger with a little more tactile reset.

Enjoy...

This has not at all been my experience.

The 2.0 trigger in my MP40 has been amazing from the factory. I will have to say its the best trigger I have ever tried in a striker fired pistol to date.... Perhaps you got a lemon?

Didn't own M&P 1st gen. but pulled trigger a few times in store. I do own a 2.0 (how could anyone resist Rangeview's sale a month ago for $399.99?!?) and find the trigger noticeably better, although I still dislike the long take-up. Will probably replace with Apex trigger.
Still need to get a CZ P10. Love their metal pistols - need to try their polymer.
