Weatherby .500 wby magnum

Any one ever heard of this Calibre?
My elderly friend has a mark v in .500 wby magnum and looking for some information about it, value etc

He remembers it being a rare rifle when he bought it a long time ago (most likely in early 80s sometime)

Can't find much online about it

I work with tons of ammo everyday if I ever see one which I haven’t yet, I’ll let you know. It has to be very rare unless your talking about the 460 in 500 grain.

Probably a 500 A-Square. We would need more info on the rifle to try to help with the value.

Probably 500 A-square. That is a 460 weatherby mag blown out to 50 cal. So one not really into guns/ammo could call it a 500 weatherby mag

Usually only used in Trap from the 27 hard line. Open chokes too hard to find !!

I love all guns, but I'm hesitant to shoot a .500 weatherby magnum. That sounds terrible.

I have a .510 Wells on a BRNO action along with dies and components, ........actually, not that bad to shoot,and got all the info from Fred, but haven't used it for several years due to having better calibres!

I asked him to send me better pictures of the rifle including all markings, serial number and ammo he still has for it so I can post them

He only sent me this one for now, but I will get better pictures hopefully soon, it appears to be stamped use only .500 wby mag on the barrel

My understanding is that the owner was going on a big safari hunt sometime in the 80s and was all geared up and then his hunting partner fell ill so the hunt never happened. Been in the safe every since. Gentle man is in his 80s or 90s now
