Ruger Vaquero won't ####

So i purchased a brand new Ruger Vaquero in 45LC this past summer, I've fired it probably 20 times. Last week I bought some snap caps to practise with it and tonight went to start my routine and it won't #### more then 3/4's of the way back, just stops. Cylinder was a little hung up but it started spinning when I opened the loading gate.

Should I call the store tomorrow or call/email Ruger? I've never bought a brand new gun and had it break so not really sure on the procedure for this.

I looked into a couple of threads on other sites but seems it could be a few different things. I'm probably going to take it apart tonight and see if I can identify the problem but I'm no gunsmith.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the base pin, that pin that the cylinder rotates on, is in all the way and locked in position. It plays a role in the safety bar. If its not in all the way, the gun can only #### so far. The little spring loaded plunger on the end of it, places load on, and positions the transfer bar.
 
Started messing with it a bit more and the small tang that rotates the cylinder at the back is busted. A small piece of it just came out of the gun when i was messing with it....
 
Vaqueros are usually bomb proof, that's why they're by far the favourite for cowboy shooters. I don't know how many thousands of rounds I've seen put through them.
 
I would think the problem may have stared with the snap cap rims being a bit thick and dragging/ jamming up the cylinder, and putting too much strain on the hand. Ok,pawl.
Just a thought.
 
You can order a new pawl, from either Numrich, or Brownell's. The part may require some fitting. If unwilling to tackle the job yourself, Snapshot, is the Ruger service center for Canada.
 
Marshall: In my experience, warranty service through Snapshot, has been hit or miss. Unfortunately, its the only game in town. Hopefully(if going that route), your outcome is a better one than some. If you know a good local gunsmith who is familiar with Ruger revolvers, an easier alternative is to have him replace it.
You may be right about the snap cap rims being too thick and causing headspace problems. Do you have(or can get) a headspace gauge? That will soon point out whether that may be the problem. If not, simply measure your snap cap rims. SAAMI spec is .060", for .45 Colt. If your snap caps' rims measure substantially over that, you'd be better off by replacing them with homemade ones(Dummy round with rubber plug in flash hole), made up from your own brass. Dead simple to do.
 
I know what you can replace your snap caps with...nothing!
