This is my current configuration for my Stag Arms carbine. Now I can truly say this is MY rifle.

Now if only I knew where to get some practice ammo for the 203!

That's a serious setup you got there! Is that M203 the real deal? KAC quadrant sight?

The 203 is real. I've had it for about 15 years. Put it together from parts I gathered over a two year period. Not all the springs and pins used to assemble it are genuine GL parts but they did the job (sort of). The sight is an airsoft copy of the KAC. Yeah I know, but I couldn't get my hands on the real deal and the KAC quadrant with the rail grabber was gonna cost well over $600 to get imported. The copy is the same as the KAC model but only cost $100 on eBay. The 8MOA J Point sight in it I bought from Brownell's.

I recently saw a Stag Arms ad in a US magazine. The AR15 is advertised as starting at $895. A dealer here in Canada has them advertised at $1450? Is this a suped up model or is there that much of a price difference? Can you get a basic AR for under $1000 in Canada new... my geuss is not.

Just don't ask why there is a $500+ difference...almost all the basic 15's from RRA, Bushmaster etc are only $900 in the US. How they get to $1400+ up here is a mystery.

i guess from your comment that you yourself have never imported anything from the states. if you ever do import something, then your mystery will be solved.

Not unless you'll settle for a CQ311 which is a small amount of settling in my opinion.

Imports fees, duty, etc. Plus, Walter from Arms East actually made the road trip himself to Connecticutt to pick up an order which this rifle was a part of. So I guess he must have tacked on his gas money as well:D.

so if...say i came over... with a 24 pack a a 40 of whiskey by the end of the night would you notice if your upper is missing and replaced with mine with a cardboard tube on the bottom painted black?

I want a 203! Nice.

There's a difference between a mystery you just not knowing why.
Cheers

If Stag arms can retail them for $895 and up, then their wholesale has to be at least 20% less, which is a small mark up. So lets say $725 US. There should be no duty because it is made in the USA. As a retailer he would pay tax at the border, as this would be double tax. 14% for him at the border then 14% who he sells it to.
So duties and taxes are gone. Now how mauch arw the import or export fees? I haven't imported firearms from the States yet but doesn't Questar do it for $225?. So if they did it for him with shipping it should be $1000?
However, I doubt a larger firearms dealer pays $225 per firearm???

Just my take on it. Maybe a dealer on here could walk us through their process with every additional price after the US wholesale?
That would dispell gouging rumours.

HE didn't drive to CT to to pick up the rifle, I think a joke was being made.

I've not heard gouging rumours, are you starting one? :ninja:

Prices are coming down due to the dollar on schedule with new arrivals, and will be posted. It will not be done through a thread hijack though. ;)

I am only asking questions. Let's not be sheep and follow. Ask questions as to why we are paying more. Why is a Honda Pilot $10,000 more in Canada. Most of the time every industry says at the end of the day they charge what the market will pay. So if we don't question things the prices will never come down.
I have started two threads about falling gun prices but they seem to disappear. It seems no one wnats to question the price of guns in Canada? At least I cannot find the threads?
Maybe the mark ups in the US are smaller as they sell more. But it would be interesting to see it spelled out how an $895 rifle turns into $1450 in Canada.
And I didn't think he actually drove down? I don't think I said he did?
