I’d like to build an NR .308 but the options have greatly increased recently. Can anyone here point me to some reference material or explain what is compatible with what?

I doubt I’ll be going crazy with Gucci parts or try to make the lightest rifle possible. I just want something accurate, reliable, 8-9lbs, in .308 with an 18.6” barrel, and an anodized finish.

Should I build or just buy a rifle?

If I build, I’m not sure where to start and what choices will restrict options such as hand guards.

Everything seems to suggest a complete Stag is a safe bet eh. 1950-2250$ depending on the enhanced or not. Would building on a Stag 10 receiver set build in some flexibility with a similar final price tag?

The mk7 really did get it right. Like it as much as the stag and give it the edge on looks plus ambi controls

I think you can build a better Stag for $2000 - $2200.
Maybe with an IBI Barrel , timney impact trigger, MI handguard.

This is my Sterling 102 build. Its almost finished. Oh ####... I - I mean Mike's Sterling build. Total cost is just slightly under $1,700 and it might go just over once all the small pieces are complete.... or so Mike has told me....

All the retailers in Canada seem to be mostly sold out of Stag 10s. I’ve been searching for a LH .308 one for months. No luck

Stag 10s come in left hand? If so they're suddenly very high on my want list...

I see BCL claims the newer 102 mk7 is guaranteed sub-MOA? Are these of decent quality?

You came to the right conclusion quickly.
Not much saving to do in a build, especially if you calculate the tools purchases.
You go the build route if you don't like the factory offering or really enjoy the process. Otherwise a factory Stag rifle includes a lifetime warranty and you can eventually swap the furnitures as prefered.

The Sterling thread on here leaves something to be desired. I don’t want to have “fitting” issues if I build. Anyone have much experience or knowledge about the Matrix rifles?

I would agree with this. I have a Troy 102 that I have zero complaints with and it fit my budget at the time. In hindsight, I'd have purchased the Stag for the peace of mind lifetime warranty but likely won't be moving from the Troy to the Stag anytime soon.

Yes it’s wonderful having a left eject rifle. Thank goodness for Stag. I think it’s much safer firing a semi that ejects away from you. They also have a large selection of LH AR15 uppers and complete rifles.

TSE is recalling the first run uppers and replacing them with new uppers with proper fit tolerances. The fact they’re willing to do that has put a lot of faith in the product.

Stag 10 has the cleanest nicest set of receivers.... and in my opinion looks the most "original looking" from where they were derived. Lots of parts will fit them. Very happy with stag 10 and the importer/ distributor as well. You cant go wrong for sure.
