Where to get mossberg 590a1 9 shot

Keep in mind that the 9-shot designation is a bit misleading on Mossberg's part. You have to read the small prints to realize it is not a 9-shot, unless you count the round in the chamber in these 9 shots. There is a capacity of 8 in the tube and one in the chamber.

At best, it should be designated as an 8+1 but Mossberg's advertising department probably thought it sounded better to name it a 9-shot model.

A shotgun’s capacity is expressed for how many shots of the shell length it’s designed for. In this case it’s 3” shells. If you’re loading 2-3/4” shells, more will fit in the mag tube. Hence the irregularities found in descriptions.
 
 
What comes to mind is that sometimes people cut springs down to fit from longer ones and turn out to be just a bit longer than needed for the amount of shells to fit. Make sure your spring is the correct one. Original quality springs have a finished end on both ends. Or you have a longer spring than what is intended for your gun. Shells are pretty much all the same length. That’s all I got for now.

Could be that slugs are a smidge longer than shots.

I think I may have found the reason why I couldn't fit the 9th shell:

I reversed the nub sling attachment that screws on the end of the tube screw-on cap so not to have a nipple on the end of my mag tube. That may have shortened the space inside the tube just enough to prevent the 9th shell from being inserted.

I'll feel silly for the post hijack if this is the case.
 
I bought a 590 a1 at my local Canadian Tire just yesterday for 749.99 in Slave Lake Alberta. They had a few different models in stock I went with the + 4 stock 8+1 shot. Have you looked at your local Canadian tires? Surprisingly I've had good luck finding ammo and hard to find deals depending on the store, they are all independently owned and don't advertise the firearms online so you got to go in person I was told
