Greetings everyone, in my humble attempt to quell some of this, if even in my own mind, I have to say, I am disappointed, but not in what you think.
This saying goes a looooong: "Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right!". This saying is a checkpoint for me in my daily life.
Going out on a limb here, albeit the limb is strong, I think one should consider, if the facts alarm you, then the problem isn't with the facts.
Might it be safe to say that the creators of this now controversially branded magazine were simply trying to create increased awareness around the SARS-COV-2 virus which has so tragically affected multiple millions of peoples livelihood and thousands of peoples mortality?
What if the branding was in support of M.A.D.D. which kills 10's of thousands of people globally each year? Most would probably be "H3LL Y3AH!"
What if the branding was in support of cancer which kills multiple millions of people globally each year? Most would probably be "H3LL Y3AH!"
What if the branding was in support of SARS-COV, MERS-COV, H1N1... oh wait those viruses killed too. But far enough in the past? Oh wait... they too are still very prevalent globally.
The social stigma created by the incensed fear carried by many is a tragedy. It is THE tragedy in all of this. Don't get me wrong, by no means am I downplaying the seriousness of the potential of SARS-COV-2, the potential has yet to play out relative to other comparators.
I think more of these incensed stigmatic energies should be more efficiently focused at a personal level, and the truth hurts, if you don't like it, then don't look/buy/read it.
I will say the idea of a portion of the funds from these magazines being donated to help the continued fight against ALL coronavirus's would be stellar. Who wouldn't want to be rid of all flu's and possible related pneumonia???
Ever stop to think that maybe we are the virus??
Criticize me all you want. If you get angry about what I have to say, I think the problem is with you, not me. Might be a good time to ask yourself why... now that we all have too much time on our hands.
