BCL coyote?

BCL has made some comments in an email on what they are held up with. It sounds like they had a fair number of coyotes already assembled when all the COVID stuff kicked off....

So if this is the case, why hasn’t anyone gotten one yet? The covid stuff “kicked off” March 16th here in Ontario where BCL is located....even with Canada post delays, surely if what you say is true then a fair number of people would have them in hand after 23 days???

I don’t have any disruptions in my supply chain. Had multiple deliveries yesterday, at least $100,000 worth

My goods are still being shipped out.

Only difference is I’m squared away.

Oh well if you and you're shipping are fine then why can't everyone else be!?!

I'll be waiting for the Guinea Pigs to find all the flaws before I consider one. BCL is a company that lets their customers beta test and I am not going to be a part of it this time.

Ahh so you met the new owners, tested a series of their Mk7s and then formed that opinion did you?

I'm a bit confused by some of the replies. First of all the Supply Chain has been disrupted, if you've been tracking any packages over the last two weeks it's pretty clear that things aren't "normal". Goods are moving, but I've had three things come out of the GTA within a day of each other, one arrived two days ago, one is to arrive today, and the thing I ordered first, was scanned 5 days ago at Gateway, and I'm close enough that an early afternoon scan at Gateway means I'll have the package the next day. So yes the Supply Chain is disrupted, maybe it's obvious to me because I'm part of it, regardless depending on who your Carrier of choice is you just may have some problems.

Also, as quick as I am to defend them, come on, it's BCL/NEA, have they ever had a launch go as planned?

I am in the manufacturing business and our supply chain is not disrupted, we do not get out materials delivered by CanadaPost, UPS, etc like you do for you personal online shopping at home. Our materials come in on transport trucks, which are still operating as normal

So yes personal online shopping is delayed in some cases, but materials for my manufacturing business are not

Orders have really fallen off this week, but that means our lead time to produce something just went from 7-10 days to 1-2 days

I think companies should hold off on the teaser pictures and fantasy dates until they have a sold ETA, otherwise you get this

I don't have to meet the owners to know the guns are released before they are ready... I tried two of their 102s and both were garbage. If the Mk7 is good that's awesome, I have STAG-10s so I won't ever bother. The mk7 should have been the gun released in the first place.

I'm pretty sure it was done on purpose to block sales of the new Wolverine rifle.
That rifle (actual rifles) had just hit the shelves when this pre-order suddenly appeared to compete with them.

People put money down on nothing more than a CAD drawing.

Hopefully BCL ships it's rifles with handguards actually designed for it, unlike Wolverine.

Funny how Wolverine always gets a pass.

A valid point about the handguards fitted with 3D printed spacers.
That was kind of crappy.

Yeah, plus it was the wrong size and you couldn't tighten it enough to keep it from sliding forward. They sent me a new one and it arrived broken.

Using a disposable plastic part to cover slapping a bizarre airsoft handguard onto a rifle doesn't scream quality. Makes me wonder how many other "shortcuts" are hidden, for now.

I do like the rifle and I'm sure it's better than the POS WK's Wolverine had their hand in, but the "early adopter penalty" is still in full force.

Holy sh*t! And people actually pay for this garbage???

So the company comes under new ownership, is completely open about how the previous ownership made mistakes. Outline all the work they've done to correct things and even name their rifle the Mk7 to reflect on this and then join with another reputable manufacturer (who obviously had no interest in checking out what BCL would be doing differently...)

But no B knows better because B bought a different gun and read about the previous administrations failings.

This fudd mentality is rediculous

Clearly.

The lure of the NR semi is strong. And somehow "may not be exactly as pictured" doesn't convey "parts may not fit properly" very well.

I'm always amazed with what some companies get away with in the Canadian firearms community. The consumers definitely enable this behavior, and it baffles me that so much put up with and pay for the BS.

You work for them or what? If they have changed so much why is it the same nonsense already? Blaming Covid is ridiculous.

Fudd mentality? I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

I’ve been a big supporter of NEA/BCL and have stood up for them repeatedly when they have , IMO, been unfairly maligned. But the reality is for the past 8+ years CGN has been fed a steady stream of promises of correcting mistakes, supplier changes, name changes, process changes, material changes, staff changes, management changes, you name it.

And then they rise from the ashes with brand new ownership and what do they lead off with? They launch the coyote with little more than a one-sided cad drawing and suggest delivery in 3 weeks; that’s exactly the kind of thing the old NEA would do. So can you blame people for being a bit skeptical?

I like NEA/bcl. I currently have 4 of their ARs and I’ve had practically no issues with any of them. I’ve been to their (old) shop, met the folks working there, and really like them. I love supporting Canadian businesses and I sure hope this new offering is a huge success. But for the life of me I cannot imagine why their new ownership seems to be running from the old NEA playbook.

Anybody has extensive experience with this slr receiver design? I mean I do prefer the ar compatibility of the modern sporter but the price point of the bcl is enticing to say the least, necer mind the almost a year wait... to me the 2 big question marks or should I say concerns are 1. The a$$hole of the takedown screw and the fear of it backing out and the nea/bcl qc legacy or lack thereof.

So anyone had there takedown screw back of or fall of? Where they smart enough to include a tool and stowing place for it?
