Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

^ are you asking more for it than it’s available from the dealer?

As is tradition! Much like any mechanical object, guns on CGN EE get BETTER as they get used up and worn out! Its science.

Thats why they go up for 98% of original sticker price! Why buy new with warranty when you can pay new prices with ZERO coverage AND roll the dice that its "only fired 12 and half rounds"!?

When you have to bump the add 13 times and get offended at lower offers, that's how you know you're asking price is more than fair as well ;)

Does anyone have measurements for the Type 81 lower handguard? I have a lot of time on my hands and would like to carve and file a 'Krinkov' style thumbhole grip.

For a SHTF gun, I would have a hard not choosing this over my other semis. Something about the compact and nice shooting aspect of my folder, and the fact it is a tank!

Magpul AK 20/5 pmags work good but need some modifications to click in. Might be a 10/5. Have to go look.

wish they had decent spare parts, extra wood, gas coverings, bolts. especially now they are discontinuing these. I have looked at overseas sites to find any parts and nothing.

I understand the Type 81 bayonet purchasing spree was to abate post pre-purchase anxiety in 2017 and fill the waiting gap that we all were subjected to. I finally got around to purchasing and installing a 1" lug extension which is a, relatively, non-bubba'd method of attaching the bayonet so it's ring sits properly on end of the barrel.

Has anyone ever found a rigid clamping scope mount that works with the rear sight block or receiver, as doing a side looks intense.

I've been looking for something like this. Which extension did you find works? Is the fitment fairly firm?
