A different kind of bear defense thread. ;)

Sometimes you just can't carry a gun around in certain places. And though it genearally is not a good idea to use a knife on a bear except as a last resort bears have been killed with knives. A Polar Bear or Grizzly would be much harder to kill then a Black Bear.

So what kind of blade is best suited for this purpose? :D

A very, very, very long one, preferabley wielded by someone else (whom you don't care much for) while you are safe in a warm truck many miles away.

it is made of alluminiumand is loaded with a special
20 gauge blank shot shell. u pull the saftey pin and
ram it in whatever is attacking u. it self cocking and fire
the blank is loaded with 4f black powder. pretty impressive. perfectly leagle.

Looks interesting. But I'm not sure I get it.... Does the blank fire the spike on the end?
no, the spike is a 3 blade to penatrate the hide. the is a hole at the base and between the blades for the expending gas to blow the guts and lungs in. like an airbag in a car. the big aluminum washer is the cocker and fire mecanisem. this is a bit shorter than a reg 20
gauge so a reg 20 gauge will not fit other wise it would be a fire arm and would have to be registered. i have showed this to the CO and RCMP and no problemo.

I do not understand the idea of taking on a bear with a knife..
Seppuku blade?

Edited:

You might want to try posting this question in the Edged Tools and Weapons - there are many very knowledgeable people there.

Cheers.

I don't really believe any "knife" is suited for this purpose...........:runaway:

But then just about any knife will do if you wanna stick yourself in the guts to minimize the suffering while the bear peels off your scalp !

:50cal:Is there a knife out there that shoots a great quantity of blades out to a distance of 200m with about 2000 ft. lbs of energy? If so, thats the bear knife I'd use!!!

Probably this one.

It worked for Luke on storm Troopers so why not bears?

I wonder if the people who advance the "bear defence with a knife" concept have ever seen a wild bear up close. If you're going to die anyway you might as well fight to the last, but against a grizz or a polar bear who has committed himself to the attack, armed with only a knife you're going to die. Of course you could buy a bear suit from that guy on TV, he thinks two big knives are the answer. I don't think much of bear spray - but even bear spray is better than that.

Here is my knife. I think it will do the trick...

For what? The bear to pick his teeth with later. Personally should I ever run into a bear while unarmed (like when I'm at church or something) I will select a large object to use as a bludgeon (Bible or rock) so I can at least give him a head ache while he slurps my intestines.
