Today's Announcement and our follow up

Is there anything that can be legally done at this point to repeal this decision? Are there any lawyers that are working on this? Maybe we can donate money to their time and effort?

During the amnesty period, the Government intends to
implement a buy-back program to compensate affected
owners for the value of their firearms after they are deliv-
ered to a police officer; however, until a buy-back program
is offered, affected owners will not be eligible for compen-
sation. An option to participate in a grandfathering regime
would also be made available for affected owners. Further
public communications on the buy-back program and the
grandfathering regime will follow later.
The Regulations and the Amnesty Order come into force
on the day they are made. The Amnesty Order expires on
April 30, 2022
 
You are to late! Money should have been raised and spent in the beginning.
Not after the fact!
Worry about whether they pay you and it's taxable. The Court's are pretty well closed at present.
So, it was a good play by the Governmemt

Yes, I would be willing to contribute a significant amount of money to this because no matter what happens, I stand to loose a fair amount anyway. Might as well go for broke, so to speak... And forget a buyback, we will never get fair value because it’s not only the firearms, there are the scopes, bases, rings, ammo, etc. And how do you quantify loss of enjoyment? To me, that’s worth a lot!!
 
I’m sure it’s been mentioned. But shouldn’t every Pal holder get a letter saying that they may be affected by this? If you don’t look at the news. And who does it’s so depressing , you’d never know of these new rules That took place today?
 
Right. So I lost my job. And unemployed. And the govt just took away one of my assets for fun and store of value.

Australia is a poor example......it's an Island.....it doesn't share a border with the US!

That's what it sounded like a few minutes ago when Blair stuttered through his interview. He did not want to acknowledge it was an option because Vachey was heating him up and about to ask how allowing people to keep "military grade" weapons would be safe if they are prohibited. Blair made it sound like the grandfathering would be figured out when they bring in legislation on the buyback.

Two years is a long time and I think the economy will be screwed by then and Trudeau will be fighting for his life in another election next spring or fall. Election in 18 months, all we need is a conservative minority or better.

I have heard that the CFC will be contacting every firearm owner and business, we have yet to hear anything official.

If I have my way, you won't be deactivating any of mine until I'm dead. Then my family will engage your business to deactivate all of the ones my AR15-owning (and soon-to-be grandfathered) son cannot possess. Those will go up for open sale to the public with the proceeds accruing to my estate. That has always been the plan. Nothing much changes, just less guns to shoot. My ammo ought to last my lifetime through bolt-guns....

OK, so you get a letter 2 weeks from now. That changes things how?
