Black Bear meets 375 Ruger

Congrats gatehouse!!!

Funny how I never recoved my 30-06 round from my bear, it went straight through. And yet a 375 Ruger doesnt go through...???

Anyway, again nice bear!

The bullet penetrates the bear from one end to the other, lengthwise, gets hung up on the hide of the ass, drops the bear like a sack of hammers, but that's not good enough, you want an exit wound, too? Sheesh! Tough crowd!!:p:p

Had I been using a 270gr TSX, I am sure I would have got the required exit wound, but I'm not sure the bear woudl have been deader, quicker.;)

Im not saying that...:D

Taking it to the restaurant? Fodo Warnign - Don't eat the Beef Barley soup at Gatehouse's place!

Big bloody pumpkin head on him! Godo job. Now you can loan the rifle out without fear of it losing it's first blood ju-ju!

the reason I asked Clarke is my uncle and brother just got a nice bull moose and they were using accubonds and recovered the bullet as well, 100 yard shot 30-06, got me thinging they may not be my best choice in the 270wsm for moose if they were showing habbits of not passing through at close ranges out of bigger calibers

Hmm...Don't know..It expanded and reacted very much liek a Partition, IMHO.

It went through 4 fee of bear and effectively mooshed the vitals. If you woudl use a 140-150gr Partition in the 270, I'd use a 140-150gr Accubond...

So exactualy what is the advantage over the .375 H&H?

Bob:)

I don't the think you will find an advantage in "killing power." The advantage lies in that you can get 24" barrel H&H velocities in a 20" barrel, and that it is a "standard" length cartridge that will fit in a standard length Ruger action, and that you can get H&H ballistics in a brand new quality factory rifle for about $1100 CAN, the case has less taper so case life may be improved, too. :)

However, the most important thing is that it is COOL.
