My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

It's been over a month since this thread's been bumped. A lot of shooters may have been kept from their ranges because of the Covid19 shutdown. My range opened this week, as did other ranges in Ontario. I hope if there's a second wave it won't be so bad as to shut them down again.

To the business at hand. I bought this 2005-manufactured CZ 452 American over the winter. It doesn't look like it's seen much action. I've always thought the 452 Americans were fine looking sporter rifles. This one shoots too. I used a Harris bipod as it seemed a good match for the lightweight rifle.

The distance was 57 yards. The scope is a Weaver V24. SK Rifle Match was the ammo.

From left to right: .357, .362, .363, .451, and .343". Average size: .375".

The smallest groups today was .197".

Nice ! can,t wait to try mine...

Is the barrel free-floated on your rifle ?

I've enjoyed reading this thread over the years, thanks Underthegun.

Beautiful rifle !!! I would love to have one to go along my 595 master Sporter.

Nice, the 452 continues it's legacy of performance. I only got to shoot one box of ammo with my 64 MSR yesterday, but you done outperformed me :p

Thanks, fellas. This 452 American barrel is almost free floating with the front-most part of the barrel channel barely touching the barrel. I've had some that weren't close.

Beginning on Tuesday last week when the range first opened, I went with a different rifle each day. I think the practice helped as my best results were yesterday with this CZ, which seemed less fussy about ammo than the others.

Great shooting. Thanks for the bump. I added you to the successful list.

I bought a 1974-made Anschutz 1407 this past winter. I changed the stock for a more bench-friendly one that I bought specifically for the barreled action. I put a scope on it that just arrived last week. Yesterday I took it to the range for the first time. Unfortunately the ammo I tried didn't produce the results I was hoping for, so today I took with me a couple of different lots of the same variety of ammo. The results were a little better.

Great shooting! Almost 1/4", keep trying.

One more, Rod, and I probably won't bother you for a while.

The CZ 457 MTR intrigued me because of its "match" chamber. I was also interested in the new receiver, bolt, and trigger. Furthermore, I was interested because it's a model with which it's possible to easily change the barrel. Perhaps I'll have more on that later. In any case, this MTR is stock, except for a trigger spring change to lighten the trigger pull. The target isn't as nice as my previous one, but this is a CZ with a factory barrel.

The 457 MTR looks ###y as hell with the huge slab of wood. Is that the 16" or 20" model? A 22lr bolt gun with wood furniture is something I want in the future.

Is it acceptable to use ballistic x for group sizes or is it preferred to measure with calipers? I almost did it with my 457 mtr yesterday. Headed out tomorrow gonna try again
