Yes, US did sold the tooling to "China"

But there its two China...
One its Republic of China (AKA Taiwan)
One its People's Republic of China (AKA China)

Tooling was sold to Republic of China (AKA Taiwan, which do nothing with Norinco) in 1969 and they continue to make the rifle as type 57 as their service rifle...
Ur M305 its just a unlicensed replica:sucks:

You've read on CGN that the OP's claim that "Norinco's M305 its made from US tooling, no its not."? I know I've never read it here that M305's are made from US tooling. I don't know what he's going on about.

I recall seeing a norinco that was stamped "M14S" and it had "made in *insert u.s. state here*. It also had 'china' and 'norinco' on it. And by recall i mean i once owned it lol.

Anyone Have any idea what the deal with that one was?

I wonder if it was this (from Wiki):
From 1987 to 1994, Armscorp of America or Armscorp USA produced investment-cast semi-auto M14 receivers. During the first year of production, Armscorp receivers were supplied by Smith Manufacturing of Holland, Ohio, which were heat treated and finish machined by Armscorp. From 1988 to 1994, a few receivers with an 'S' serial number prefix were made of stainless steel. From approximately 1994 until 2008, Armscorps receiver castings were supplied by the Lamothermic Corporation of Brewster, New York

LOL look at the HK antifa avatar........we are far more concerned about if the government of Canada gonna ban the M305 or not........

Also FYI "Chinese M14 clones were imported into the United States from 1988 to 1994, and continue to be sold around the world. In the brief period when they were imported into the United States, representatives from Norinco met with American gunsmiths to improve the fit and manufacturing of the Chinese rifles to be more in line with the original USGI M14s. In Canada, they’re known for having around the same level reliability as the more expensive Springfield Armory M1A, while being less than half the cost." I rarely hear anyone saying M305s are using the US tooling. Most of the time people are telling me "They are legit for that price"

In the end if it works, and cheap, and non-restricted, we love it.

I guess he is telling us there a very good reason that those M305s should be banned. If not I don’t know what the #### he’d try to prove, maybe implying CGNers are a bunch of idiots who never support genuine Republic of China knock off or what.

It's much like comments about Mattel making M16 rifles, or it being contrary to the Geneva Convention to shoot soldiers with the .50 BMG, or you can use 7.62 NATO in commie guns but you can't use 7.62 Russian in NATO rifles. Namely I've seen statements about Norinco M14 rifles being made on ex-US tooling on various internet sites over the years, but they aren't frequent, and more importantly they clearly aren't coming from anybody with any credibility. No reason to get yourself worked up about sporadic misinformation from online idiots.

wierd thread

no there hasn't been a long standing myth on cgn and I simply fail to understand the purpose or motivation for this thread LOL

lots of new PAL owners come on here and the m305 is thier first rifle and they go online and get thier heads full of this and that and post misinformation that gets routinely and swiftly corrected by the numerous m14 enthusiasts who have all been down that same road.
these days the m305 rifles that china is producing are total junk and canada can't import anymore anyways so the whole discussion is moot.

I guess this wuhan virus is really getting to some people LOL
