Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for some decent glass to put on a 22 for 25-50m shooting. I'm building a 10/22 for my friend for a mapleseed and don't want to break the bank. I'm really hoping for something with adjustable target focus down to 10 or 20m (SF or AO) as I don't want her to be struggling with blurriness or parallax.

I'd buy a Nikon rimfire scope right now if I could find one, I know most retailers discounted them earlier this year when Nikon decided to get out of the scope game. Maybe I'll be able to find one used. Leupold on the other hand would be nice but I don't think she'll want to spend that much :)

Any other models I should be considering?

I got a new scope for my Rugger 10/22 in anticipation of Mapleseed coming to a range near me.

I went with a Bushnell AR Optics 3-12x40mm 1" DropZone .223 MIL Riflescope and am pleased with it.

The side focus and magnification change lever are very handy for slightly more than $200.

Find a 1" body Bushnell rimfire 4x scope. Likely can get them less than $50? Nothing to twirl or adjust - just shoot with it. Nice and bright compared to the older 7/8" and 3/4" .22 scopes. Get a .22 rimfire scope - nothing but grief and frustration if you chose a centre fire scope that does not have parallax adjustment, which gets you into "twirling" and "adjusting" which a new shooter probably does not need to be worrying about. With a target that matches the reticle, it is entirely possible to shoot less than 1" groups at 100 yards, with 3x or 4x scope, despite what you might have read.

I have a hawke 2.5-10 SF that is adjustable to 20y

I like it a lot for rim fire shooting. And it tracks repeatable out to 200+ often.

Yes. Schmidt & Bender 3-27x56 PM II High Power LP P4LF.

Wolverine has them. Perfect for 22 LR. :)

:agree: Now this guy knows what he`s talking about. Obviously a very experienced .22 shooter.

To clarify my previous Post #3. I have never shot a 1" group at 100 yards with a rimfire .22, with any scope. But I have done so multiple times with 3x on 243 Win, 3x on 9.3x62 and 4x on 338 Win Mag. Need a repeatable aiming point, big enough to see, that is not altered as the holes occur. I usually use 3" or 4" white squares, surrounded by black, with the normal "duplex" or cross hair reticles - appears to make 4 identical white squares when the cross hair is centered perfectly.

There is also a 3-12 and 6-18 option. I bought the 3-12 for my HMR last year. Actually got it for a 22 buckmark rifle but wouldn't mount very well because of the rail on the buckmark (short tube)so swapped it with the HMR scope. It had an Elite limited edition 3-9x40 on it with SF down to 15yds but they haven't been sold for likely 10 years. Comes with elevation turrets for 22, 22mag and 17HMR. SF down to 10yds. Finding them is getting hard as they've been discontinued but are a bargain for the features on them.

I picked up a Burris Droptine rimfire 2-7Ă—35 from p&d a few weeks ago that I'm quite pleased with. Went there to look for a different scope but bought that one as soon as I saw the clarity.

That's a great suggestion. I don't know why I had forgotten about Bushnell's stuff but between the one you have and the 4-12 rimfire optics model I have a couple of great options. Thanks!

Thanks my friend, I'd totally forgotten about Bushnell's rimfire scopes. They're right in the snack bracket too at $150-250

Yeah I gave up on buying fancy targets long ago once I realized how easy it is to print 2"x2" black squares with white fill :) I was shocked at first by how easy it was to get tiny groups on such a simple target

lol you joke but I've seen a handful of rimfire setups with PMII's on them. If you've got one to sell for ~$200 I'd be willing to make you an offer... ;)

I also have the Burris droptine I really like it. My price range was about double the droptine but I didn't see any 22 scopes in that range now i feel like I made out like a bandit

I would recommend leupold vx-freedom rimfire series. I run vx-freedom 2-7x rimfire on my 308 and does not have any problem with it.

If that's not affordable for you, then bushnell 4x or 1.5-4x can be had for half the price of leupold. I payed $54 for my bushnell banner 1.5-4x when they discontinued the product line. The current equivalent can be had for about $120. It was on my 308 rifle until it connected with my friend's eyebrow. Scope did not survive.

You can go even cheaper. I had a aimsport 4x32 on my cooey .22 for ages. I think I paid less than $50 for it from Canadian Tire. It held up after 10 years of range use and several hunting trips.

You do know that them Leupolds can be parallax adjusted to where you wish to shoot yardage wize?
Weaver makes a great r/f scope as well, iff'in you can find'im.

Them Hawkes (sp?) have always intrigreed me.
May have to score one, one day.
