Remington Model 7600 ??

I have never owned one, but my BIL's father has one he swears by. I have a hard
time saying anything negative about it, because he always gets what he shoots at
Only problem he has ever had was too much oil in the action, which gummed it
up and made it hard to cycle.

I disassembled it for him, and did a thorough cleanup, and it has worked well since.
FWIW, these rifles are easy to disassemble and reassemble.

I think they are pretty decent rifles for those who prefer the pump action, and they
are available in some decent chamberings. [His is a 30-06] Dave.

A fast, very popular deer hunting rifle in Ontario. More or less the same ergonomics/controls as an 870 shotgun. All you really need around here anyway. I'd be keen to buy a Model 7600 Weathermaster (discontinued, hard chrome finish) if the price was reasonable. For me, the 7600/760 series rifles are surprisingly accurate.

Very popular deer guns in the midwest USA, Amish Machine Guns they call em.

Always wanted one. Will definitely be adding one to the stables some day, probably a 3006 or 270. Almost bought one in 270 this year but I was really in the market for a left hand bolt action...

If they came with a decent trigger, and could operate without the fore end rattling, I would one one or two. The pump action is more reliable and as fast as a lever or semi in hunting situations. It is an accurate rifle, except the trigger sucks. Like everything else made by Remington, it is " just good enough" and "as cheap as possible"

My first hunting rifle was a 760 in 270. Shot many deer with it. I like the pump for quick follow up shots if needed. Don’t need to move your trigger hand between shots. I now have a 7600 in 243 for my son and a very nice Model Six in 30.06 for myself. I’m a big fan of the pump rifle. Too bad Remington discontinued the 7615, I’d like one of those as well.

Love them except for the trigger. Have had a few that shot decent, put a Timney trigger kit in them if you can find one. Not a lot of choices in cartridge, mostly .308, .270 or 3006. DBM is nice although I had issues with the mag release catching on my pack as I carried the rifle over my left shoulder. Mag dropped out a few times. Solved that with a Kifaru gun bearer. Great bush guns.

Speaking of cartridge availability, does anyone know if the 308 and 3006 use the same size action or if there are two different sizes of actions on these?

Are there any Remington 7600 fans out there?

If yes, .... why?

- They're accurate.
- They handle well as does the similar 870.
- They're very reliable.
- Easy to take apart and clean
- Not overly expensive. Working rifles, not safe queens.
- Easy to load for and will digest heavy loads.
- SB dies not required. FLR works fine.

x2. They are huntin' guns - not terribly pretty, but they are great for those who want to just fill the freezer.
