How does everyone store and organize their brass?

And a strip of masking tape to identify..........

"300WM RTL" , "7/08 NOT SIZED" , ".308 NECK SIZED ONLY" ,etc................All typically separate per each rifle.

Then I have a larger bin on my counter top that gets dirt decapped cases and once I accumulate enough, into the tumbler.

I do that too, only one time I regretted putting 7mmRem Mag, 300WM and 338WM all in the tumbler together.... That was fun to sort.

now I try to make the mixed tumbler loads a little more dissimilar, oh and 30 carbine and 22 Hornet are not a good mix, the hornet gets stuck in the 30 carbine

Woodchopper
That's why I sort fired cases into the Temptations cat treat containers first by caliber and head stamp. I wait until I have enough to do next step, de-priming and then cleaning.
Reminds me I still have a full 5 gallon pail with once fired GP11 to work on. eek!

I use X-large freezer bags with a slip of paper inside to identify the smaller sub-batches "(9,3x57 M96 1f" "9.3x57 M98 2f sized" etc), and keep all of the bags together in the hard container. I can modify or change the paper slip easier than changing labels as brass gets cleaned, sized, processed.

Paper adhesive tape is the weakest labeling method IMHO. If your tubs are transparent, a 3x5 paper index card has some stiffness, and when you mark it with a thick felt marker, that information isn't going anywhere. On metal ammo cans, I like hanging a paper tag to the handle in such a way that when there are several cans on top of each other, each can's contents can be known right away.

I use MTM boxes personally. Primer in one end and a bullet in the other to keep the gunpowder in. I find it to be an excellent way to store primers, powder, and bullets as well. Seriously. Empty brass doesn't stay that way long.

The same thing happens with 9mm and 45ACP. Not only that, a chunk of nutshell media usually locks the two of them together.

I store brass in marked plastic containers separated by rifle not caliber. I have 2 of the following 300wm, 308,243,22-250 ECT. I keep brass separate for each rifle. I use a automatic center punch to put a slight divit on the case head just before cleaning. This is how I mark firings.
The center punch put a very noticeable divit that is easily seen on the case head even after many firings. It does nothing to weaken the brass in any way. I have some batches of brass that have seen 10+ reloads.

Hey! I like that idea! Never thought of a center punch to track that. Until now I was using coloured sharpies to track it, but it rubs off sometimes or I'll load up the tumbler and forget what colour brass went in.

Thank you!

Have a few friends with cats and they save the empty kitty litter containers for me. Reasonably heavy plastic jug approx. 2 gallons with about a 4 inch wide opening /screw on lid.

For my larger volumes of brass I trimmed 5 gallon buckets to fit into an ikea kallax organizer. I live in a smaller place so space is key. I have these hidden in cheap cloth inserts so people don't see a canadian tire bucket underneath my textbooks... OK, confession... so girls don't see buckets at the base of my bookshelf. God I need a place with a garage :p

On the bench and on the bench shelves, this is the brass I'm using currently, I use the MTM and Berry's Boxes, 50 Rds in a plastic box. Also some old Dominion plastic 50 Rd cases and some old 50 Rd Herter's cases.
The less popular or obsolete brass that I'm not using immediately is in everything from ziplock bags , empty factory ammo cardboard boxes to 2 litre hot pepper, or relish containers, coffee cans, and army surplus ammo cans.
The common popular calibers is in 5 gallon pails. Even an old square GSW galvanized wash tub.
Unsorted/ dirty brass is in 5 gallon pails.
One Exception, a heavy duty large plastic bag that has about 2000 Rds of Imperial virgin 303 British brass.
Too much is never enough

Try 9mm and 45acp. I think every 45 had a 9mm in it and I ruined some of the 9mm getting them out.
Next time they will be sorted first.
