So I am under the impression that the new rules are in place for this fall. For those of you please correct me if I am wrong in any of the following as I do not want another SOB poaching moose on the home quarter as happened a couple years ago.

1) In order to hunt ANY land the hunter must have direct permission from the land owner .
2) Even if the land is not posted the hunter must still have permission.
3) This applies to ALL hunters both licenced and FN.
4) So any one seen on the land without permission is considered to be trespassing.

Thanks

i dont think the new law is in place yet
it would of been the top subject in the hunting synopsis this year

dont get me going on truck hunters this year

I was hoping it was. Yesterday we had a cow and calf moose, a group of mulies with two nice bucks, and some whitetail running around the home quarter. The road runs on two sides of that quarter and the last thing we need is rifle bullets flying over the house and shop. So far the bird hunters have been gracious and asked permission and we allowed them on the other quarters as no real risk to anyone plus never had an issue with them.

As for deer/moose hunters that is another story. But as you elude to it isn't good for the blood pressure to talk about that.

And if any of you guys are looking for a moose I hear there was one on the Broadway bridge yesterday is Saskatoon. lol....

The new law will have zero effect on poachers.

Your absolutely correct. With that said I had an incident happen last thursday. I had just arrived at my farm to start hunting. While I was changing out my footwear I hear a voice ask me if i had any luck. Scared the hell out of me. Our land is posted. We had a civil exchange thank god. When I asked the young man if he knew where he was he said he did but of course he didn't . The laws wont stop this from happening but in the all too rare case you catch someone and they are rude or worse threatening you can charge them if need be. The excuse it wasn't posted won't help them. For me its simple respect to ask. In my case I explained to the young man that I hunt on my fence line and from where he came in he could be in my line of fire. And again your right poachers will be poachers more laws wont' stop them.

The trespass law will ruin upland and white tailed deer hunting as we now know it. As well, it is the first step for farmers and especially big greedy ranchers raised on government handouts with crown land to begin charging access fees like their cousins in Texas and Colorado. Outfitter organizations like the idea too as they can now tie up large areas with white wash agreements limiting access. Also too, now, a very large portion of land and much of it former crown land is owed by foreign investors. Try phoning some the holding companies you now find listed on the municipal maps, and if you get a phone pickup it could be from some one in South Africa or Beijing China. Having complained, I fully understand why anybody wants to get as much as they can for nothing in these times. It's the American way. But, it will make it harder for the hunter wanting a day hunt to simply trundle out into the vast plains of southern Saskatchewan and shoot at a few grouse and be home by dark.

Wouldn't big greedy ranchers and any outfitters who own private land already have that land posted, which means this wouldn't change any of that in the slightest?

If some foreign investor owns the land, than its his land and he can do what he wants with it. IF it was previously crown land then your issue should be with the people selling off crown land to foreign investors, not the new laws about trespassing.

Sooner the better.

Only effect it will have on hunting is landowners will know who and when are on their land.

Coming from Ab couldnt believe people think they can do whatever they like on private property without the owners permission or even knowledge.

As stated has always been in place in Ab. Some may not like it but theyll learn to respect others property. Most in our exp ask now.

I had heard the COs were stopping people and reminding them of the new laws. Most land around here is posted anyway now though which is nice because it cuts down on the out of town truck hunters especially in elk season.

No better rifle rest than an adjustable side mirror. ;)
You trying to provoke me into a truck hunter rant lol

True CO style, full of bs
It’s not the law yet, if it was, it would of been in this years synopsis

Yeah, I have never understood why people think they have the right just go on random people's land without permission. I was always taught to ask permission before going on private land regardless if its posted or not. Most guys just want to know who is on their land and what they are doing.

I am the same as you
If I see a parcel of land posted
I will go knock on the farmers door, 9 out 10 times I get permission to hunt

I am on posted land now and the sheer amount of trucks that have pulled into the field
Over the past 4 days has been in real

Does nobody in Sask have a fence?

In BC trespass is legal if the land isn't posted or fenced... But most everything is posted and/or fenced...

Will not happen. Ontario has been like this forever. Buy some land if you want to hunt. Can you please tell the crown to keep her fing animals out of my corn fields while your at it. I am tired of fattening up all the white tail just so a city hunter can eat. Everyone is winning but the farmer, so be it.
