Hi. Just started shooting IPSC.

Bought a shot timer. CED7000.

How should I incorporate the timer in my shooting practice? (static/port)

Without any training in the use of the timer, I think it's teaching me to respond quicker to the 'beep'.

Do you use the PAR time feature? Seems like a useful feature.

Thanks for any advice!

Guess a lot of people missed this, I was trying to be ironic, as this reply below was from Azumi:
For one to be in IPSC and then say what he did seemed very odd.
As he states this and yet looks like he owns pistols, so seemed kinda hypocritical of him to offer this as advice to someone and yet own the very type firearm he was running down.
The original fellow was just looking for advice and mine was one of the best, X-fiancee.
Or try counselling if he really is that enamored of her.

"A pistol is useless in Canada. The extra safety course. The fact that if someone steals it from you IT WILL end up being used to hurt someone. The ATT. You can't use it to hunt. You can't carry it to protect yourself. Like most of the NERDS that rushed to answer your question you'll NEVER learn to shoot it accurately. You'll sell it for half what you paid a year later unless you really, really enjoy masturbating with it. Go look at the pistol exchange forum for proof.

Ask yourself WHAT good reasons do you have to actually own one. In fact ask each of the hot-shot, james-bond-type-confidence posters to your thread EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO with their pistols besides

Idiots."

The above was a quote from Azumi, not my words.

what? hunh? are you joking or are you on crack now?

back to the advice part;

I use mine for target shooting and competition. The timer is great for working on your draws and for seeing the difference in time as a result of shooting at 5 yards as opposed to 25yards.
like any sport, it takes time, patience and effort.
Matt Burkett has some drills and paper sheets you can print off and keep track of your progress.

That post? All those guys want him to dump the girl and buy the gun. I thought I would inject some harsh reality. There's alot more productive ways for him to spend his time and money. I didn't mean to call them idiots, it just, came out. Me...I'm hooked. Spent 7 hours at the range yesterday. Fired 1000rounds. The last 400 shooting while moving.

A while back I got MattBurketts HOW TO PRACTICE dvd. I just think there's gotta be something more to this timer than just checking to see how fast i'm double-tapping.

wtf? You got some 'splainin' to do, imo.

Typical liberal:

"I have invented rules for you to follow which will make our society better. I need not follow these rules, as I am enlightened. Only the unenlightened, such as yourselves, must follow them."*

Capitalists are the most egalitarian, socialists are the worst of the elitists. The supreme irony.

*(a variation on "I stand for a worthy cause for you to pay for!")

i hope that your sheep burn, as the eyes of Allah stair down on you!! Filthy Troll! Nasty Hobbit!

OK...let's all take a deep breath...

I know quite a few shooters that were at one point...anti pistol. Some people just take a bit longer to "see the light"

I will also remind some of the dire hard nutz...that we had a similiar situation about 3 or 4 years ago (a very stupid post)...and the comments were much more damaging...and IPSC Ontario was highly criticized for taking action.

We've all posted something that we later regreted (except me of course...I'm pretty much perfect ;) )

So...let's turn off the fire under the tar pot :stirthepot2: and hang on to your feathers
