Getting bent....

So during a pack hunt for elk one of the horses went over down the hillside with a Browning xbolt in the scabbard. Well the barrel on it got a pretty good wow in it.
Well with a little technique I picked up from a "real gunsmith" I managed to get that puppy as straight as when she came from the factory!

And if any of you were wondering about how the horse faired, well we ate his liver with a fine chianti.

Thats a great tip know, Ive had three buddies bend their barrels while hunting, two hit trees while driving their atv's, and one ran his over with his argo.

When I worked on the rigs an old tool push from Texas showed me the same concept to straighten a bent crowbar.

A Hossfeld bender with appropriate sized dies would be my choice to get the barrel decently straight. I'd preheat the tube to 300 degrees to allow for molecular expansion of the metal to better ease the stress on the tube whilst straightening. Me amigo's shop be mere minutes away.

I’m curious if you can feel the bend if you push a slug through.
I had a barrel maker demonstrate how to straighten a barrel with a barrel press but these weren’t bent anywhere near that much. Very interesting, nice job.
