I'm planning to have a table at the Woodstock Gun Show this coming weekend (the 11th of Nov) I will have a nice selection of my Garands to google (maybe one for sale) plus I will be there to answer questions, and show how easy it really is to completely strip these girls down, and show what to look for when you have problems. If you're in the area, you can bring you Garand in if you are having problems, and I'll give her a boo.

I'm not a gunsmith or an expert on the subject, but I have read a good number of books on this rifle, and have been playing around and shooting these rifles for about the past 10 years or so. I will also have my tools and books there as well.

Address: Woodstock Fairgrounds, 875 Nellis St. Woodstock, ON (1 block north of Dundas St. at West Ave.)

For those that may be going to this show and are new to Garands, it's worth your while to stop by and spend some time with Sgt Striker. ;)

Although I had a lot of books on Garands when I started collecting them, I learned and retained a lot more by spending some time with his mini clinic.

Regards,
Badger

I thought there was a show at Mt. Brydges this sunday... is that true? I wonder which one is better... I better go to Woodstock.

I might wonder down to woodstock if I can get up I'm going out Saturday night so I might be sleeping late I've thought of setting up a machinegun display up there like I do at ancaster but then again it's alot of heavy lifting at 6am

For those looking for my table, I should be next to the wall, just past the snack bar. There is a good chance I'll have at least one Garand for sale. The doors open to the public at 07:30.

Just a note to any of you fellows that plan on getting into collecting military rifles, it's a good idea to start and get a dealer table at these shows. I'll let you in a little secret, IMHO 80% of the deals that happen the day of the show, happen before the doors open to the public.... Plus, this a good way to make contacts in the gun collection comunity in your area. :D

I think I will go to both. Is Dennis organizing the Mt. Brydges one too?

I walked up to Sgt. Striker's table and said hi but he obviously didn't remember me.... so I quickly moved on!

I think I remember that, you should have jogged my memory!!! Was I busy talking to someone at the time??

I seemed to be a pretty good show, but to tell you the truth, I didn't even get a chance to walk the floor once..... (so I came home with some money in my pocket instead :D )

I didn't spend much either, but there wasn't much worth my money.

The highlight for me was the Winder musket... at $3200.00 far out of my range.

I picked up an as new 11-87 Premier for $600.00 when I got it home I pulled it apart and it really hasen't been shot.there was a very nice Walther.22 as new complete with sights for $500.00 . not a bad show I hope Ancaster is as good .

M1 Mini Clinic

I had the great fortune of having Dean show me how to take down my M1 at the Woodstock show today. In doing so, he found my follower arm was slightly bent and may be the cause of the intermitent jamming I've been experiencing. Many thanks to Dean and I hope others took advantage of his generous shared knowledge. I'm envious of the number of Garands he had on his table and I'm sure that wasn't all he has. Thanks Dean I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. Frank

Hey Frank, you're more that welcome. Had a good time talking to quite a few people. Some were very surprised to see so many Garands on one table (and yes Frank, I still had a "few" hanging on the wall(s) at home :D )

I walked by the table as well and Dean is definitely a very nice and friendly guy
thanks for the information
as of the show, i just picked up some 303 ammo and hopefully they will shoot :p

Got a couple slings off Dean for the Enfield and shot the breeze for awhile.
