.....

Tagged for interest as I'm looking to upgrade from my Chinesium Harris knock-off.

Hopefully without sending the thread on a too much of a tangent, what GCN contributor/vendors carry a variety of these higher-end bi-pods ?

They aren't flimsy.

Some have a little slack in them, proper setup and preloading into the bipod negates any slop. The slack is actually a benefit in the field, and this bipod won't be the limiting factor in most situations.

If shot some of my smallest groups (under a tenth MOA) with a ckye-pod, off of concrete no-less.

If they aren’t flimsy then why has mdt stopped making the current ones and I have to wait for the gen 2 to be released to get a bipod I spent $800 on replaced because there is to much play in it?

Mine is pre-MDT, the second batch ever made. My bipod is by no means "flimsy", but there is some slack in the bipod, as is warranted in a field bipod.

There's a substantial difference between excess slack and "flimsy". Perhaps when MDT took over production, the tolerance in the amount of slack was allowed to increase. Maybe it was on purpose. Or perhaps it's teething issues from manufacturing a new (to them) product.

Thankfully MDT is an excellent company, that puts their customers first. While the hiccup is unfortunate (if it in fact is one), MDT is a company that I would trust to make it right.

So I have a new Cadex rifle coming soon. I have 3 LRA's, and I love them. But no one in Canada (that I know of) carries them anymore. I want one heavier then the Atlas offerings. I've tried the Magpul and let's just say ...nope! The Cadex and MDT units don't impress me either.

6MT just curious, which Cadex did you try that you found wanting? Falcon or Falcon Lite?

I didn't say I tried the Cadex units. They just don't impress me. And they are pricey. But...they're still on my list.

Do you have any first hand experience with either unit?

I've shot with a few guns with the Cadex Falcon, biggest was a 50 BMG. Also, a 375 Cheytac, 338 LM, 308W, and a 300 BLK. Haven't shot a lot of rounds with it in total (less than 100) but it is well machined and easily adjustable. There is a tiny bit of slack through the system, due to the adjustablilty, but not anything I've noticed when actually behind the gun with weight on it. In the video below, we're shooting the 50 with a Falcon.

A bunch of the guys that shoot ELR at Valcartier use the Cadex bipods. I always thought it was well suited for ELR as they are quite wide. Full disclosure; I have one for sale on the EE.

I shoot mainly PRS so I have a couple of modified Harris with Arcalocks, spikes, etc. I found the Falcon a bit too big and bulky to be used for PRS.
