I'm looking for some first hand experience from howa owners. I'm looking for a 223 bolt gun as I mistakenly sold my last one. I'm just wondering how these rifles perform. Action feel. 2 stage trigger quality. Accuracy. I will likely drop it into an xrs. Thanks for any input.

Loved every one I owned! From new they always just shot well!

Do you like cars ?

Put it this way

It’s a Honda mugen

I.e. very good as it is out of the box

but If you get it to the shop and get it SOUPED IT - it’s a hot rod

They are pretty much identical to the Weatherby Vanguard. Minor cosmetic differences but identical in function. They're both really well-built rifles and made in the same plant in Japan. Very accurate and very well-built no corner-cutting here they use proper integral recoil lugs that are machined out of the action. The triggers are good and user adjustable if you do not like the feel of a two-stage trigger you can swap them out for a single stage aftermarket. The Hogue stocks on some models aren't great, they flex quite a bit in the fore end. Other than that they are solid rifles.

Got two so far. Stainless 1500 in 308 . And one in 3006. I like them both. The 308 is my main deer gun. Deadly accurate . Nikko scope that comes with them is not bad. Still holding zero after now about 80 rounds . Saving money now to.buy heavy barrell in 308 to be honest just waiting on the wife to not work from home so I can buy a third one hahaha

My Howa in 7.62x39 is good, had a Howa 22-250 that i didn't shoot and sold to my son, so far the 22-250 won't equal the 783 i have in 22-250. We will be trying more loads in the spring.

Got the barreled action and some MDT goodies finally. Scope is still in the mail so I won't be able to test it out til the end of the month. Gun feels solid. Action is decent for what it is. I'm sure it will smooth out over time. The trigger isn't the worst I've felt. Going to lighten the pull as much as it will allow and see if it's usable. If not I'll swap it for a timney.
