Well ,it finally happened. I got a Bushnell Banner 3x9 on warranty when I sent in my old 6x Bushnell for servicing.Rather than fix it , they replaced it with the 3x9 Banner model that was made in Korea.
It finally crapped out while I was at the range today shooting the 300 mag.I had it on a .375 H&H for awhile, and on a couple of 45-70's as well as a couple 06's and a .308 if I remember correct.I am thinking that it should last a bit longer than that, so I'm going to send it away and see if they send me another one!!
The first two shots were a half inch apart and then it started to pattern like a shotgun, so I figured it was giving it up. I put a set of Talley's and a 3x9 Elite 3200 and went back to the range.
Now it's back to the half inch groups again, I'm glad it didn't crap when I had a nice deer in the cross hairs.......

Every one of my lower end Bushies have crapped out. My elites are still in the game but I wouldn't touch anything under the 3200's now. I will be moving to leupolds as monies permit. I have had one crap out on a deer. Thank goodness I missed and didn't wound the animal. Found out that when I turned the power ring my POI shifted a foot or more at 100. This has occured on four of my Bushnells.

Live and learn

banner on a H&H? I wonder why it fell apart? ;)

I had really bad luck with Bushnell's warranty department , it took 8 months for the other one to be replaced with the Banner.I was so pissed that I put it on every big gun I had in hopes of killing the f**king thing.
I am going to take it to the range and shoot it through and through and send it back for warranty repair. I don't really epect them to fix or replace it anyways....so...................:50cal::50cal:

Bushnell's SUCK!!!!!! I have had them literally fall apart on me when shooting a 300 win mag... I will never own a Bushnell scope.
Well Riley, if you're gonna buy the $49 Walmart special, watcha expect?

The 3200 and 4200s are quite a different story, but you'll have to get another paper route to pay for one of them. ;)

Any scope can fail; regardless of cost! For that reason it is prudent to have a seond scope or back up irons for your rifle, especially if you are on a big dollar hunt. If a scope failure screws up your weekend that's bad enough, but it doesn't need to if you have a "Plan B".

I have a cheapie Bushnell Banner 3 x 9 on my rifle for 5 years or so. Never had it fail. Then again I don't shoot hundreds of rounds a year and I don't own a magnum with 50lbs of free recoil either! It all depends what you do with it.

I've got a Banner on a Swede. Before that, it was religated to a .22 rifle. My friend has the same scope on a .243. We have never had a problem with them. And that's because the rifles their on don't abuse them. I also had Trophy scopes on several .300 and .338 magnums in the past. I never had one fail. Once on a hunt, I dropped my rifle while crossing some loose rocks. You guessed it, the scope was off. I found that out at the range. But after a few shots, she was back again, a little dinged, but no worse for wear. I like the Leupold stuff too, but for guy's on a budget, some of Bushnell's stuff isn't bad at all. Besides, Bushnells lifetime warranty is the same as Leupolds: If it falls apart under normal use, they will both replace them. If I drop my rifle off a mountain, they wont. Then I'd be out $150 instead of $400.

Personally, now I wouldn't put a new/current Bushnell Banner [Dusk & Dawn] scope on something like a .300 Win Mag. It's on the low end of the Bushnell line. I have no aversion to Bushnell scopes but my starting point would be a 3200 or better.

Although, back in the day I had one of the old series Banner 3-9x38mm scopes on my first .300 Win Mag, a Ruger 77 tangsafety. And it performed very well. Different scope different era, though.

As a side note. Any scope can fail. Many scopes will fail! I can't tell you the number of people that I get a blank stare from when I ask them if they had the scope mounted properly and in the case of steel rings, "Lapped in". A properly mounted scope, even a walmart special will last a lot longer when it is mounted straight and true rather then "I'm not paying $25.00 to have that done, I'll do it myself!"

The extra costs in ammo or bullets/powder, gas to the range & post office plus shipping cost to Bushnell, it is must better to spend the extra $$ to buy a better scope in the first place.

God forbid if you miss a deer due to a scope failure. Not to mention frustration is priceless, the rest you can always cover them via your Mater Card!

Certainly any optics can fail. The best service I've received is from Leupold and Simmons. With Simmons, your gonna need it ;) Bulls**tnell however can shove their garbage warrenty, s**t service & how they accuse customers of abuse

just sent back a new 3X9 elite 3200 for the second time. total crap do yourself a favor and buy Burris or Leupold. Back when B&L existed they were quality, not anymore.

I wonder if I put those skinny spare tires on my Camaro, and tried to run the quarter mile in 12.5 secs, would they make it!And if they burnt off in the first 100 feet would I get warranty.C'mon ! If you want some bang for your 50.00,spend an afternoon with your pals & check out the rippers at the bar!!!:p
