Extreme gun shooting center trimming station

That's what I did. I keep the case holder and cutter for each cartridge in the die box.

Pretty sweet looking setup!

Interesting trimmer.
I had a look at their website. A bit hard to navigate. But found the trimmer and a 8lb Jug of Varget. They still have 5-1lbs if anyone is interested.

Will keep an eye on how it works.

Where can a guy buy the trimmer heads? Are they giraud heads or very close copy or?

They actually aren't a bad deal at the listed price. I'm piecing together some parts, if I add my time for machining and material it's hardly worth it. Just the motor is 100$ at grainger. Of course being set up to mass produce vs a one off would be quite a bit different.

Yeah I noticed that too.
I’m usually one against knock offs, but since Giraud refuse to ship up North I want the Giraud efficiency.

I ordered stuff from them in the past and they shipped here. When did you last check?

Edit: just read they paused shipping and didn't stop entirely

For anyone struggling with getting stuff from the states there are options. With the border closure jumping across to pick up stuff doesn't work. However several companies exist to ship to in the U.S. and have it brought up. I recently did this in Manitoba with a parcel service in Pembina, ND and it was pickedup by a company from Emerson, Manitoba and brought to Winnipeg. This is basically how I got my Giraud years ago (except I just went down to pick it up). The Giraud is an awesome tool.

Curious, how much was the 8 lbs at Extreme Shooting ?

$429. $20 flat rate shipping. Gone up a fair bit. But I haven't seen much around. This will last me a long while. I don't see the price going down anytime soon.

There is one back up $449 now?

Trimmed 120x .308 cases with it this afternoon.
Took under 7-8 minutes and trim length and chamfers we’re perfect
I’m now officially recommending this unit to good friends!

I am glad you are liking it. I am seriously considering one. Just i load for a multiple of calibers. Trying to find the best way.

I like the previous posters idea of dedicating 1x machine per bore caliber.
I named one 30 cal which I only have a .308 die for, but could purchase 30-06 and 300wm dies if I’d want.
My new machine which should ship tomorrow will be named 6.5mm, could do all the 6.5s.

If ever I do get in the 6.0mm trend, I’d dedicate another for it.

You can readjust the blade between bore calibers too, but I’m the type of guy that’s looking for peak performance/efficiency right now.

Time is important since this pandemic, never seen so many people needing a plumber it’s a crazy business right now!

I'm happy you like it. I really like mine, but I'll have to make due with just the one ;)

Just wondering since your putting in an another order mmmm What are using to prime your cases with. lol
I'd love a review on their primer seater K/O hint hint haha

I'm glad to hear that it works so will buy one for my 6.5 CM as well. Keep the Giraud for 308 only. I really hate to adjust thing again and again. Time is very precious nowaday.

Most people just buy multiple cutter heads and leave them adjusted for each caliber...

That being said xtreme said they don't have spares. Can anyone verify if the head they use is identical to the giraud or at least same thread?

I get the idea of not wanting to adjust things. Once I get a Prometheus set up, I just buy another to change the load.

I don’t know if trimmer heads can change out, but I can confirm 2 things.
Even if they would there would be some time required to change it out, and confirm extreme shooters do not have any spare parts as I have tried ordering some.

For priming I use the Forster bench priming station.
It uses primer tubes that are quick to fill, and has a pretty good balance between ergonomics, speed and precision.
I do not feel like it’s my weak link in the reloading speed chain right now!

My second unit arrived quite roughed up.
Metal cuts are rough and rusting, motor wouldn't start at first until manually turning it to ease it in (likely seized).
Unit obviously wasn't test tried or checked before packaging, or was checked and sent carelessly.
At least it works and does what it's supossed to do.

My first unit now has 500 trimmings through.
Still feel it either needs a slight blade positioning tune or a better blade.
As I trim my .308 brass to 2.005''.
Casings that we're up to 2.008'' have no problems, my 2.009''/2.010'' casings create a tiny burr inside, giving me problems gettings my neck turning pilot in without forcing it.

Still don't regret it for the price as the potential is there.
Short term I'll try to find Giraud brand blades to see if it helps, long term I'd definitely want the real deal and sell off my knock offs.

is the cutting head screwed on the spindle? reason reversing the motor would it possibly unscrew the cutting head from the spindle, most machines turn to rotate to keep the accessory screwed on and tight
