That's interesting as I shot a 4x4 mule last fall in Kananaskis that didn't have any fat on him either. Some years I've skinned bucks that have an absolutely huge layer of fat on their back.

Well I guess by dumb luck, that being said I put my time looking for a 4 point, it was 29 November already feeling like nothing was going to happen, so thinking about upcoming bow season.....just happened to see him out of my peripheral vision,87 yards ,Just being in the right place at the right time paid off
