I tried groundhog once to find out it was like chewing on a tire. Other than that my experience is normal and I tried pretty much all the game meat. I've heard that pigeon is like chicken but since they carry so many desease it's a hard pass for me.

The meat eater guy tried coyote, I will personally never eat dogs. I have to admit I never tried bear and never will, I just can't picture me doing it.

Share your experience, the worst game meat you'll never try too.
 
I travelled to Mexico and a local farmer made a mole to welcome us. Actually tastes okay. If you could get farm raised pigeons, they are delicious.
 
A friend of mine traps and i'd never tried raccoon, but have heard that lots of people like it, so when he caught a bigger one he gave it to me to try. Now i have no clue what i am doing with a racoon, so i watched a few youtube videos and read a bit and they all say to make sure you get out the glands of it will taste aweful.

It wasn't the worst thing i've ever eaten, If i was stuck out in the woods with only raccoons i wouldn't starve, but i'm not about to go out and get myself another one any time soon. Not knowing what to look for i may have missed a gland or two and that's what my problem was, but i'd want someone who knows what they're doing cook it right to try it again.
 
I have tried a few oddities But these two stand out to me. ..... tried and like horse meat (won’t be rushing back anyways, but it’s better than I thought ), tried and liked beaver (yes the actual animal) and it was everything I was told it would be. Will eat again.

I never thought about beaver, I’d definetly try it if I’d have a chance.
 
The one thing I could never try would be snake. Can't stand those creepy crawly things! Gives me the heebie jeebies lol. Of what I've eaten and didn't like - muskrat. Was a long time ago, couldn't tell you today what it taste like but just remember it not being good at all.

Oh. Tofu. I know it isn't meat but it is sold to the vegans as a meat replacement ....so it isn't. My daughter made chilli once using tofu (that is a whole nother subject that I won't get into lol). The chilli it self had good flavour but those rubbery pieces of - well rubber, just didn't do anything for me much less convince (fool) me I was eating meat. Come to think of it if that is what vegans think meat is like no wonder they don't like it!

Rattle Snake is weird it’s not long pieces of meat like you expect, it’s more like something between ground beef and scrambled eggs, won’t be rushing back but it came on the Wilderness platter...

Have a shirt from the grizzly house that has pictures of all the animals I’ve eaten at the grizzly house...

-Mako Shark(amazing)!
-Ostrege(who knew it was red meat)
-bear (good but very rich)
-Alligator (doesn’t taste like chicken lol)
-beaver (oily but good)
-Squirrel(will do in a pinch in the woods)
-Bore(good)
-elk,moose,bison,deer (all very good)
-octopus/ cooked and sushi
-Eel(bbq is one of my favourite things)
-squid and squid ink(don’t get the hype)

I’m sure I’m missing some others, but I’ve eaten a lot of things.
 
I've never had a meat that I didn't like that I can remember. Slow cooked a beaver rear leg last fall and it was to die for. Can't believe someone wouldn't eat bear, its one of the best meats out there. Even my wife loved it, that is hardly out of most peoples comfort zone.
I've cooked up a raccoon for a wild game night a number of years ago. It was greasy due to all the fat but the meat was excellent. I'd just trim the fat next time. Beaver tail soup wasn't all that good, as its like eating a big piece of fat.
Pigeon is fantastic, as long as you cook it there is nothing to worry about as far as disease.

Not sure there is anything out there that I wouldn't try, and I suspect I'd enjoy it.
 
Personal experience:

Dried beaver meat =pretty good
Roasted beaver tail =awful, grissly, greasy
Rotisserie squirrel =pretty tough and stringy but tastes alright
Rotisserie pine marten =really tough and really stringy and just ok
Fried coyote strips =super tough, taste horrible
Fried lynx strips =Just like chicken, tender white and juicy
Snoeshoe hare =not bad, but kinda bland
Raw ruffed grouse heart =rubbery, metallic taste (never again)
 
I had Alligator sausage in New Orleans, can't say there was anything remarkable about it. Not sure what percent was actually Alligator because it tasted like pork to me.
 
I'll eat anything edible. Haven't tried a lot though, I'm sure I wouldn't "enjoy" it all. Goat is considered exotic meat in some circles, happens to be my favorite.

I tried Chilean horse jerky, was okay, kinda fishy tasting tbh.
 
This year one of the guys brought some Cougar meat to camp (ground and loin).
Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. It reminded me of the dark meat in a pork roast.

How was the moose nose?
 
I ate jellyfish once. it was like eating something that chewed back and im still not sure what jellyfish actually tastes like because it was slathered in sauce. Overall ok but it did make me wonder how hungry the first guy to eat one had to be.
