Shipping Canada post is hurting your bussiness

What I hate the most is getting an email notification that the parcel is in. So warm up a vehicle, head in, only to discover that the parcel card won’t be processed til late afternoon or tomorrow. Frick

Funny you should say that as I just got one like that yesterday (arrived late) and now I have to wait until 1:00pm today to go and get it at the post office. It did not require a signature so why can't they leave the damn thing in my mailbox??????

I shipped a rifle that was damaged in transit. Tried to claim it. They have a new policy that a non restricted firearm must be shipped in a locked non see through container. The claim was denied because I shipped in the original box. Go to their website and check it out. I used ups last time. No problems

Funny no other industry is telling people to adjust their expectations.
I work in the energy sector, wonder what Ontario would do if we told them we only had power for 4 days out of the week
You know expectations and all that.

Just Saying

Umm, every other industry is saying to change your expectations because of covid EXCEPT the energy sectors. Might have something to do with that whole essential services thing, and less public interaction meaning less red tape?

If this is true, it should be a sticky somewhere that everyone can see. Might save someone a huge chunk of dough. Especially considering how expensive full insurance can be on a high end rifle.

And I am sure the retailers who use them to ship us products might be keen to know they aren't covered in the event of a loss. Every retailer I have ever dealt with ships in the sealed factory box.

I know they are horrible to deal with when you make a claim (don't ask how I know) , they have so many ways out of paying up its incredible.

Wife was home all day. No delivery notice anywhere. Checked for status update of shipment because it's been delayed for 3 weeks. Says notice delivered, ready for pick up at post office. Also signed up for email alerts. No alerts were sent to me. Canada Post blows.

Canada Post been great for me over the years. No problem. Now UPS on the other hand:rolleyes:

100%, they’re far better than the others. And it ain’t easy for any of the shipping companies during Covid.

You can tell by my trader rating how many rifles I’ve shipped by CP, and I’ve never had a single one lost in just shy of 20 years since I started swapping and trading. That’s a pretty good track record.

Yup I have shipped hundreds of parcels with CP, and other carriers.
CP has gone into the crapper, and are becoming unfriendly to the firearms community

LOL..exactly HOW can they become unfriendly to the firearms community, they dont have a clue what's in the packages,so how do you suppose they can find out it's a firearm,LOL..Canada Post suck simply because it's packed with Union slackers who could care less,.and none of them ever puts in a full days work,

I have a package that is still in transit from Oshawa to Mississauga since January 25. The trace I opened as the recipient came back negative and now the sender has to open a claim. I informed the sender, and they told him he has to wait another week for a second trace to be opened up.

I called to try and have the supervisor expedite this process and they were unable to. The trace and claims team is the only one that can do it. Apparently they work random hours since they weren't there at 2pm Friday and will return my call on the next business day. The supervisor also said that my package isn't lost, they just don't know where it is or when it will be delivered.

On top of that she said that smaller couriers like FedEx/UPS/DHL can offer faster shipping since they have less volume. It's like the blind leading the blind with Canada Post.

Fyi you can use netparcel to get cheaper shipping with competent couriers for less than Canada post. Everyone should start using that.

Yes CP is getting worse and are becoming very unfriendly and difficult for the firearms community to use.

Janeau> sorry I can see you replied to my original post. I edited it as TI has been great on their end, and did not want it to reflect their customer service

CP have Union: today all Unions are the enemy of the quality service and will run down the bussiness, in 19 Century when was not Labor Ministry ,Unions was helpful but today they are a distructive force on market.

They actually think that UPS and FedEx are smaller couriers? That gave me a good laugh.

I have only ever had CP lose something in the past 15 years, and I buy stuff online regularly, at least one order per week on average. I have never had anything lost by DHL, Canpar, or FedEx, but I have experienced more damaged packages and long delays in delivery with those services. DHL even left a gun on my stone walkway 50 feet from my front door one day.

CP is understaffed, badly managed, and there's a pandemic happening. Regardless on your thoughts of the pandemic, they still have to abide by what they're told to do, so delays are inevitable. Not to mention more people are turning to online shopping because places being shut down or limited to in-person shoppers. Get a PO Box and stop worrying about deliveries, check it once a week, and have some patience. You'll get your stuff.

I think you mean couldn't care less. If you could care less, that means you care to some degree...
I certainly agree unions are the antithesis to caring, quality work. Things would be so much better without postal, teacher, and police unions...

Canada Post is required for any business shipping in Canada because not all courier companies have access to remote locations that Canada Post is required to serve.

That said, Canada Post has dumped 2 rifles unattended at my door while I was away and both required signatures.

You’ll find most of the guys slagging Canada Post are city centric. If you’re away from a major center, good luck with DHL / UPS / Canpar et al. Usually you have to invest a couple hours round trip to get your package. We live close to a major center these days, but still takes an hour to get my package if I miss the delivery with a courier. CP I can walk to the local PO, and they do a pretty good job all considered. All the guys saying publicly “They left a gun on my doorstep” are only going to get our most accessible and affordable means of shipping firearms taken away, or rendered a far more expensive secure service. And that’s really gonna suck if you’re remote.
