i just sighted in my new Remington 783 in 308 with walnut stock and just like that it became my main hunting rifle, 4 rounds of 180 gr fusion in 3/4 hole at 100yds, i think this rifle is way ahead of the axis

Bought the 16.5 just because it was inexpensive, bought a muzzlebreak and installed a Sightron 6x24 on it.

This rifle out of the box is doing cloverleaf.
Impressive for the price, no simply impressive. JP.:ar15:

Got one in 6.5 CM, dropped it in an MDT chassis.
Shooting 5 round groups at 100 yards ,.6 MOA .

I have the 16.5" .223 in a bedded Boyds pro varmint stock with a home made 2 1/4" bench plate installed.
Made up a single shot follower out of a strip of plastic.
Mueller 8-32x44mm
Shoot off a windage adjustable front rest and rear bag.
69gr SMK and Varget between 3/4 and 1" at 200 not uncommon.(3 shot, calm conditions)
Might even be more consistent with someone good behind the trigger.
Surprised and happy with the 783.

I wish I could find a business selling a 16.5" 783 in 308.. I litterly searched almost every gun store in Canada ( Every dealer on CGN, and what google brings up for stores in Canada ) and all out of stock.

Bought one last April in 30-06 and put a dozen rounds thru it. Hesitate to sell it as it might be my only ‘legal’ gun soon.

bought a 783 the first year they came out , an accurate gun, no complaints. I should have kept it.

I have one in .270- it's a solid 1.5 MOA rifle with the factory loads I've tried. I haven't been able to work up handloads for it yet- work and weather intervened, I'll see what it can do in the spring. I don't love it, but I can't say I hate it either. In retrospect I should have bought the wood stocked model.
