I thought I read that Marstars bought all the M305 and the parts that were available. If this is true I wonder when and if they will list the parts that are for sale.I guess right now things are a little busy.Just wondering if its worth waiting or just order from the States.I'd like to give my hard earned cash to someone from the GWN before I converted it to USD's. Later.

I think it's a misinterpretation of what Jonhone said. He mentioned Marstar had bought all of the remaining M14 parts in China and had them assembled. AFAIK the three containers coming in are all complete rifles, assembled from whatever M14 parts were left in China.

I'm thinkin some canadian craftsmen, ie... machinists/millwrights should start "re engineering" the parts for these rifles and get the cnc machines a blazin...... there is obviously a continuing and growing demand for aftermarket/replacement parts and the blueprints for most parts are out there. we have the technology, we have the demand.... we just need the supply.

+1 to that. With export paperwork for many US made items getting harder and harder to get it won't be long before we have no choice to make our own anyway...

I'd like to see a Canadian made muzzle brake that would be shorter than the original flash arrester and more conducive to hunting.

I dunno.... material selection.... the blue prints are out there...... it can be done. If a guy was to "one off" a bolt that's one thing. If a guy was to have the cnc programed.. once you hit that point ... and have picked the right material.... bzbzbzbzbz and the cnc gets her done. There is a lot of time involved in setting up the cnc programs and this is generally what gets in the way of these projects getting done.

but yes, bolts, GAS PISTONS, spring guides, extended bolt stops, SCOPE MOUNTS, flash hiders/muzzbrakes...... firing pins.... hammers, sears..... i am rambling hehehe :D

what i dont understand is how - from johnone's post that they had purchased all the remaining M14 parts in China - so many people jumped to the conclusion that this is the last batch of Norinco M14s that will ever make it into Canada.

did i miss something? was it posted somewhere that all the Chinese factories were shutting down?

My understanding, and I certainly could be wrong, is that production had already ceased. That would be interesting to know for sure. Its a wonder that China isn't selling parts, like bolts, barrels, springs, extractors, ejectors, etc. All that should be easy to import.

A WORD ON THE PARTS;

Production on the M-14 rifles for export to the USA ceased years ago when the embargo (presidential decree) was imposed on Norinco.

A couple of the factories were assembling these parts into rifles, these folks had more or less experience in this area.... This is one of the
reasons you hear about various levels of quality....

We (Marstar) purchased all remaining parts that were in the warehouse, whatever components we did not have were manufactured.... We then contracted to assemble these components into finished rifles.

We did have a very strict QC critieria in place.... There were firearms which we would not accept, what they did with these I don't know....

We may have some small lots of parts available for sale at a later date....

As far as we know there are no plans in place to resume production unless someone is willing to commit to a VERY,VERY large production run....

SO you are quite correct in assuming that by early next year we will be sold out of these fine rifles....
