I've decided my next purchase will be a sub-compact handgun. I've been looking at bersa thunder .380's, and glock 26-30's. Unfortunately, they all seem hard to find in Canada. Any suggestions other than waiting for a nice one to pop up on here used?

Also feel free to drop any pictures of yours and/or give suggestions to other subcompacts I haven't mentioned.

Have you ever shot one of the glocks? I shot a glock 27 (40S&W) once and it was awful. Grip is way too small to use. I have normal sized hands.

I would take my chances with the bersa. At least you can pretend to be 007

With our 105mm barrel length law, isn't a subcompact kind of counter productive?

That said, I am lusting after a Glock 29. You can get them imported with an aftermarket Canadian legal barrel. I don't think anyone retails them in Canada. Maybe that is why you are having a tough time finding subcompacts in Canada.

Someones selling a glock 27 on EE and the end of the barrel is ported so it makes it look something like a compensator on the end and it doesn't look as goofy as they normally do.

Do you know how one would go about getting one imported?

Trust me the barrel sticking out an inch or so of your subcompact gets old quick.

This. And if you are shooting something the size of a G26 or 43, the small grip gets annoying FAST. Challenging to conduct reloads and the lack of control can be frustrating. The Glock 48 hits the sweet spot for compact/ sub compact pocket blasters for us in Canada.

I have small hands for a dude. Well short fingers anyway. I have a collection of compacts but wouldn't call any of them sub-compact. Of the guns I have the Glock 48 is by far the most enjoyable. the Bersa 380 is also nice but a bit of a sting due to the blowback action. I have a Browning 1911-22 which is 85% the size of a regular 1911 and it is fairly compact with it's 4.25" barrel. It can be had in 380 as well but blowback. I also enjoy my antiques. I have one Webley MP in 455 with it's 2.5" barrel is quite small and packs a punch. Antiques don't have the 105mm" limit. This gun resembles a snub nose 38. None of these guns have a Pinocchio barrel (well the threaded end of the Bersa does but it looks corrects for that 007 thing) but if you are willing to live with one you could also look at the 70 series Beretta guns. many out there with a half inch sticking out the slide. The one I have has been shot more than 100,000rds and runs great. A buddy of mine has a Boberg. I wouldn't say it is reliable but a nice conversation piece.

So there you go for a few choices that I made and there are others. Lots of options out there.

Cheers
Moe

Glock 48 is the only gun on the market that hits Canadian minimum measurements in every direction. It’s a superb little pistol; I have one of the first ones in the market, closing on 2 years and almost 6000 rounds. It’s a great shooting little. Gun, nice size grips. I started shooting with a single stack 9mm (S&W 39) back in the 70’s, and it really hits a home run with me

Is the Glock 48 the slim line ? I think i saw one of those recently in store and it caught my attention.

In addition to the Glock 48, these are some other good candidates (without the protruding barrel).

A CCO sized 1911 is a cool option
This is a commander length slide mated with a officer length frame
I have a SIG RCS that is almost the exact same size as a Glock 48. But a .45

I would suggest holding a Glock 48 before buying. I was considering buying one but when I held it, it felt too slim and not very ergonomic. I much preferred the thicker grip of the Glock 19.

Here is a picture of my Dan Wesson CCO. It is one of my favorite hand guns.

Another great option would be the Browning 1911-380acp. They are really slim, and light. Mine is super accurate as well.

Love my G19. It is small but the barrel doesn't protrude out as much as the G26. I like how the Glock grips are a bit thicker than most handguns, but I could just be more used to it. My hands are average sized, definitely not large. I would also like a Bersa .380 for my 007 itch.

Gock 48 is top choice for a resricted compact 9mm thats actually small! But best part is it doesn't need a aftermarket Pinocchio style barrel and its pretty affordable.

Mine has ameriglo nigh site, which is worth the extra money. Don't see myself parting with it anytime soon. It actually fits my hand much better then a glock 19, yet glock 17 fits just perfect.
