This is my purpose built turkey gun. Mossberg 535 ats with a wilson precision .650 choke fixed 4x redfield scope
Ill use a variety of sxs guns in 10 12 and 20ga as well as semis in 20ga and a 10ga pump. I like to carry a different gun each time out. I will be focusing on using 20ga gubs this spring. A sxs and over under and a beretta a400 and charles daly semi for rainy days

Do Ontario Turkeys reproduce naturally, or are they Nebraska hatchery stockings?
In southern B.C. around Grey Creek north of the Sirdar Hotel, the turkeys from Idaho come visiting every year. Damn coyotes. he he he he.

They brought in birds from various places in the 90s. Possibly the 80s to. Now they reproduce on their own. They are fully restored to south west ontario to a point theyve become almost a nuisance to some.
IIRC it was a total of about 280 birds over three seasons....88/89/90 ring a bell. All the rest come from natural reproduction. Although in the nineties for sure they were capturing flocks within Ontario and moving them to help speed the population growth.
This won't surprise anyone here who knows me but I stick to rather traditional choices, even for turkey. My go-to for the last 15 years has been my 1909 AH Fox Grade A 12 gauge with 30" barrels choked full and full.
But it has some competition this year. If the weather is good I will probably take my Lindner Daly Diamond Quality model 275 with 30" barrels choked at .046/.046. Should be tight enough even for the long shots. LOL It'll give me something to look at while waiting for the tom to come into range.

This is the only hunting sport this Albertan is jealous of Ontario hunters. We have a few tiny zones near Pincher Creek and that's it that's all. Some zones of BC far superior. Over the counter tags IIRC. And BC .22 LR rimfire harvest is possible some specific zones as well.
Perhaps the ultimate would be knocking a toms head off with .36 or .40 caliber muzzleloader.

Here's my Turkey/small game gun, for here in southeastern BC,
it's a 40 year old Marlin model 782 in 22 mag, set up with a period correct Scopechief 4X.
This gun is very accurate!
I'm looking for a spare mag, any ideas?

Do a search at Triple K. If you are successful contact them. At the same time ask them who is thier Canadian dealer. I can't remember who it is. But they are a proper CGN dealer IIRC.

Thank you guys. And I must say there is a certain satisfaction from taking a turkey with these old things. I have a picture of my grandfather with that Fox from 1942 and he’s posing with the day’s bag somewhere in Manitoba. Includes a Turkey. Sure was cool to bag probably the next one for that gun around 2007.
