So why on earth wouldn’t it just come as a complete 8” upper ?

To heck with a complete 8" upper, I want a complete 4" rifle:

I was never interested in a NR 18.5" FX-9, but this I would buy!

I've already got a complete FX-9 8" rifle from W just recently with their "unexpected" sale. Would be fun to try 4" upper kit, since it would not change it's R stratus anyways. I opted out 4" version when this sale was up. I still believe 8" is a sweet spot for this platform.

Stoked to see these but maybe I'm missing something... If we buy the kit, how do we go about getting a 4" or 8" barrel to strap to this new upper? Handguard and barrel nut are less of an issue. The proprietary barrel is the part that confuses me.

Comes with the following:

Barrel, Upper, Bolt, and charging handle! ( along with feed ramp and pins/springs)

All you need to supply is a free float handguard in your preferred length and the appropriate barrel nut for that handguard oh and a muzzle device.

I re read your post and i think i understand what you mean as there’s no vise block and a reaction rod won’t fit, right?

Don’t think the regular vise blocks will work.

I’ve used this clamp with good results.

I wonder if a PDW style stock will fit. Anyone know if the the rods of the stock fit over the sides of the upper when collapsed?
