Why are so many MRA Renegades quickly put on the EE?

Hunting is probably where these guns shine the most.

Bear in mind that even before the ban, nobody was allowed to hunt with an AR-15.

I can remember whacking a grouse with my AR15 Sporter back in the late 80's. Had a 30 round mag sourced from our US neighbors. No tactical parts available back then , period.
All legal but damn, no grouse left.
I will admit that most AR15 cartridges are less than stellar for hunting, however the short Bbl concept with a straight pull does have some merit.
Especially with something like a 6.5 Grendel or .450 .
Too each his own.

There really is no mystery as to why we see guns on the EE.

Every single time something new has been introduced, people run out and buy them, pimp them out etc. The reactions from the new owners are everywhere from "meh" to "this is the gun I have been waiting for all my life and I will never sell this gem" and everything in between.

Then a percentage of them go on the EE. Happens every single time....

I suspect you're onto something Gatehouse... Nothing I didn't already know (seen it so many times already), but the positive reviews suggest this may be a worthwhile use of the MOUNTAIN of AR parts I have...

I personally love it...I have 2 uppers
One in 6.5 grendel with a 20” barrel that is a tack driver...I use that for hunting
One in .223 Wylde with a 12.5” barrel...it’s my truck gun. Nice and compact

A guy at my range bought one when they came out. He went to the range with it once, shot 200 rounds with it and placed it on EE the same day because it didn’t do it for him. I shot 10 rounds with it and was convinced it would get old real fast.

I agree with one of the earlier poster that suggested it was a good way to sell AR parts without hassle

We have one current semi-automatic alternative for donor parts to the manual action receivers. The combination of the WX-MCR receiver and proprietary parts kit will allow the use of the butt stock, pistol grip, trigger, and magazines, and bolt from a donor rifle; the handguard may be donated if it has enough height for the piston system, and the barrel can be donated, but only if it has a carbine length gas tube port (though this may change if longer Op rods are produced by a third party like True North Arms). The combination of having to separately source the proprietary parts kit and not being able to use all barrels and handguards have made this option not entirely popular, however.

Sylvestre Sporting Goods will be importing the Jard J180 Builder kit in late June to mid July. If the quality is improved over previous Jard offerings, this may prove to be a more palatable semi-automatic place to put donor parts then the WX-MCR kits. The firearm uses a standard AR gas tube to the receiver, and the use of multiple gas system lengths and their associated barrels may be possible with the assistance of an adjustable gas block. The use of a gas tube instead of of an over barrel pistol also means almost any standard AR hand guard should work. The wider parts compatibility, addition of an optional dust cover, closer overall appearance to a traditional AR may make it a good home for donor parts. Only time will tell if the design and build quality of the build kits will allow them to be both reliable and popular.

SFRC also raffled a bucket load of these off.... people flipping them for quick cash.... and i still haven't seen a single 300 BO for sale...

Seems to me there are particular platforms that have a high resale rate. I think the hype makes people buy then for a large number of reasons change their mind.

Than there's the people who want a sum for all parts and they got the experience / joy out of a build and perhaps didnt do more than test fire

Using piles of AR parts is appealing for sure.

Other appealing aspects are that you can build and use something that you couldn't do before. So you can build a AR style rifle with a short barrel and take it out hunting or as a truck gun. Obviously you couldn't do that with an AR15 and other non restricted semi auto options have minimum barrel lengths.

It also may take some time for people to figure out what they want. I know it has for me. If you want to replace your AR as a range blaster only maybe a WS-MCR would be a better choice as weight and compactness isn't such a factor.

I bought 3 straight pull receiver sets and built them into rifles. I have sold one and probably will sell another but the final one (12.5" Grendel) I'm keeping for sure. Like I said, it took me a while to figure out what I like. :)

It's never going to straight-up replace an AR, and maybe a bunch of people were looking for that and got disappointed and should have looked at one of the surviving semiauto options.

But as an NR truck gun it has its strong points, and as a longer-range precision rifle it has potentially better accuracy since it shoots from a locked bolt.

I love my renegade. But everyone is correct it is NO AR15. But having said that, its made in Canada, it looks like an AR, mine shoots great. i won't complain about the Renegade. It is what it is.

I built two, in non typical calibres, I still. have my 22 nosler its great, fun to shoot cycles well and amazingly accurate then I build another in 458 socom and sold it , for me its a means to an end, I buy I play, I sell I play some more, nothing more nothing less

I think alot of people panic bought these receivers right after the OIC, thinking that it would give them 80% of the AR experience after the ban. you're obviously going to be disappointed if that's the case, but that doesn't make them bad. the LPC and Renegade are both really well made.
for calibers that aren't knee capped by short AR mags, they're not a bad platform to build a short, lightweight rifle with. especially if you have parts laying around looking for a use. and they make an excellent base for short barreled NRs IMO.

Hey all,

I was thinking of buying a Renegade to use all my spare AR parts on, but I've noticed MANY Renegades popping up on the EE with reportedly low round counts...

Is it just because people bought them trying to scratch that AR itch and it didn't quite suffice or what?

Haven't seen as many SBI LPCs... Maybe there are fewer in the field?

Thanks

Straight-pulls are to an AR what a fleshlight is to a girlfriend.

I'd say its because people thought it would scratch the AR itch, but after building the firearm, it lacked the AR appeal.

I think they are cool, but they are just a bolt gun in the end. Nothing special.

What these companies should do, is built some pump action pistol carbines based off the IMI Timberwolf in 357

That or make a 22 mag semi auto Rimfire that can rock 25 round magazines.

That about sums it up. I hate them because of what they represent, plus if I wanted a bolt gun I'd just get an actual bolt gun.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head to buy one so why the hate? For me, I just want to re-use some expensive parts from my AR15s rather than let them collect dust in my safe.

Because every time I see one it just reminds me of how the government fvcked us and that we're one step closer to single shot everything. I dont disparage people who have a bunch of ar parts to use up. I get that you wanna do something with them.
