Does anybody ever try to custom fit the norc 14" barrel to Remi 870?

comparing the two seems like the norc barrel must be cut at the breech end
of the barrel and the breech by about 1/8" to make it work, any thought ?
but then the whole length of the barrel would be shorten by 1/8", also
the ring must be moved back about 3/4".

Info ?

Thx.

i have built up about 15 rem870 with nork barrles.
If you nork looks liek it needs a mod then dont do it there is somthing wrong with it.
The only thing i have run into is the ejector housing cut on o nthe rem 870 is not allways in the right spot and sometimes needs to be filed about 20thou on the top edge.

I've only tried two different 14"norinco barrels on three different Remington 870 receivers and they both looked like this.....

my bad, that the barrel length would be less than 470mm or whatever. i dont have a reg cert to look at here at work, but thats what i meant.

you are required to report/update any changes in the classification of the firearm. you cant have a reg cert for an 20" 870 with a >470mm barrel on the cert, and swap the barrel to a 14" and just run around with the same reg cert. - regardless of whether or not the 14" factory barrel is legal or not.

The classification of the gun doesn't change, it is still Non Restricted with the Norinco 14" barrel. What should be done if the gun is to wear the 14" barrel all the time is to send a request for amendment of the FRC to reflect the shorter barrel, it will come back with a FRC that states barrel length less than 470mm. You don't need to re-register it, although I think most people say re-register but mean amend the FRC ;) Each barrel/receiver combination has its own FRT number so it the 20" has a different one than the 14" and the new FRC will be recorded at the CFC to reflect the combo and FRT.

You can also have it classed as multi-barrel, and just add barrels to the list.

There are no OAL or barrel restrictions unless you want to use a folding stock.

Unfortunately most people misunderstand the 660mm rule. The CFC don't seem to be respecting the rules either and (as we all know by now) are considering the pg equipped short shotguns to be 'handguns' and thus restricted. I can't wait for Dlask's court case to go through and settle this matter.
Sorry to take this off topic a bit

i dont mean to suggest that this would change the 'class' of weapon at all... but you would ideally want the reg cert of your gun to show <470mm barrel length if you have a 14" barrel on your gun.

i have a couple short barreled non-restricted firearms and all of their reg certs show <470mm for barrel length.

Absolutely. I would suggest multi barrel, as that is really what an 870 is. You can go from 28" to 14" in 10 seconds.

if i buy a 14" norinco, and swap the barrel onto my 28" 870, can i just call up the CFC and inform them that i switched the original barrel for a factory produced 14" and to please update the reg as a multi-barrel?
or do i have to take it to have it verified?

Yes, they really don't verify any more.

About the reg. CanAm is correct.

I tried my norinco barrel to a 870 police version, the ring doesn't end where
it suppose to be and the gun doesn't ####. As I mentioned earlier looks like
it has to cut about 1mm but then again it might not work right.
