I carry 2 extra cartridges above & beyond a magazine loaded to capacity + a cambered round. So it's usually 6 +/- 1

When I'm hiking and carry for wilderness defense I have a fully loaded gun + that same amount again.... so usually again it adds up to about 10 slugs

Two mags plus 5 loose rounds. Most shots are for signalling, if required, i.e. 2 shots followed by more after two minutes. So, about 12 to 15 rounds total, in my case…

How far from home? How many days am I hunting( back country camping or day hunting)? Where am I hunting? What am I hunting? What is other game animals around where I'm hunting?......different answer for each question.
If I'm day hunting close to home usually about 9 rounds...the amount that fit in the elastic butt cuff on my stock...

I usually carry the equivalent of a full magazine + 1 for the chamber and a 6 round ammo wallet in my daypack / person, so usually 9 or 10 rounds. I also keep 20 rounds in a container that I leave in my truck, but don't carry while I'm actually hunting.

Depends. Big game and turkey hunting, I will have a full mag, plus a small 'ammo wallet' with 6 rounds in my backpack, and whatever is left stays in the vehicle. So 20, give or take. Waterfowling, could be a hundred or so :)
